1/5 Ziroli AT6 Texan ?
Been doing a lot of research on this plan. There is not a lot info. Fiberglass / wood? Is this a good first giant scale bird for a seasoned builder/flyer? I am a big fan of the AT6 Team AeroShell and would like to build one in that scheme.
Looking at the Saito FG84 and Robart landing gear. This plane just screams radial engine but the Moki is just too far out there. Any input appreciated. D |
Hallo
a friend of mine is buidind the AT6 yellow aircraft with saito FG84 , which is a very good much for that plane. He is almost finished. I am building the same plane too , but i have a 3w 80cc competition on it. it will take some time though to finish because i am thinking of doing some scale details on it. Jim. |
I have always loved the Yellow AC models but just wonder about the building with fiberglass fuselage and how to fit everything in it all closed up. I hope to build the built up version of the Ziroli unless there are some problems with that design.
Wanting the FG84 Saito but reading about problems with it now. |

i am not a four stroke gas engine specialist though, i dont know what the problem was , probably some special maintenance or broken in procedure that those engines might require , i dont want to blame nobody , but some special care is needed for sure. |
I've got a Yellow AT-6 NIB that I'll be building next winter. I'm trying to decide on either a 3W 75 which I have or maybe a Saito radial. A friend of mine is having overheating trouble with his Saito 450 but I thought Saito corrected this issue and others with their new FG 84…
I'll be following your build with interest. paul |
if anyone is looking for one, I have one that needs the outer wing panels. The originals were lost.
I bought the plans to build them but I don't have the time....... |
Too bad we are so far apart.

AT6s have a narrow landing gear. Makes them difficult to handle on the ground. They were designed to weed out the lesser pilots. A gyro on the rudder might help. Have you checked rcscalebuilder.com?

Jeff, you never know.....sell it it cheap. I even have a set of the outer wing panels. A little packing, a little shipping and a whole lotta airplane......lol

Hi, i am currently building a VMI 1/5 scale AT6 Texan , very similar to a Ziroli-Byron-Yellow Aircraft. So i will post some photos here.
Right now i am finishing the cockpit...... |
