Yellow P-47 gear doors

Hi,

Was wondering if someone could tell me what pneumatic cylinders available today work for the inner gear doors?
Im refurbishing P-47 that had a trip mechanism, but it doesn't work very well, plus I am adding air cylinders for the tailwheel doors so might as well.

Thanks,
David

I would love to know this also......have one NIB and it just might get to it early next year.....

I have gear doors cylinders from Bob Violet. They go through the top of the wing because they are too long. But that part of the wing is under the fuse so you don't see them. They work well.

It depends on how much travel you need. There are several strokes available:

My last one had Ultra Precision. Can't remember the exact length, but like above, they protruded through the top of the wing where they were mounted on 1/8 ply. Worked fine for many years, till the mid air...but that's a whole 'nother story, as they say.

Bob I would love to use BVM actuators, do you know the length and stroke you used?

How much 'throw' is needed to open/close those doors?

Dave,

I built a couple of yellow A/C Jugs in my day. I'm thinking it was either 1 1/2 or 2" stroke cylinders.

That's the thing, to determine the throw you have to open op the holes for the cylinder pass-through. Depending on the cylinder you get the position of the hole shifts. If I can get an idea of which cylinder to use it would give me a ballpark idea for the location of the cylinder, so I can open up the hole.

Dave,

They use to use the cylinders that Ultra Precision sold. It's the same brass ones that Dream works has and also Darryl from Sierra precision sells also.

We use to just oblong the hole for where the cylinder goes thru the wing so it had inning space to move.
