Royal P-38
Afternoon all,
A friend has a Royal P-38 kit and is considering letting go of it. He has quite a few warbirds in his fleet including a Royal B-17 under construction. Most of his planes are in the 91-120 four stroke category and I don't think he wants to hold on to this one. Question is, will this be a flyable airplane when complete? I'm an experienced builder and pilot so doing the job right is not a problem. Question is, what will I have when I'm done? A decent flying warbird or a lead sled best left in the attic? I don't expect it to fly like a Kadet or a pattern plane and I expect it will have to be flown from the time it starts until the time it stops moving, probably not a relaxing flight. No problem, it wouldn't see the field all that often anyway. I just thought it might be something interesting to take to a fly-in here and there and would give me a P-38 without taking out a second mortgage. Anyone here have some experience with this kit? Thanks. Rick H. |
