Meister P-47 Box to Maiden
Well, I'm starting down a road that I hope ends well. Been YEARS since I actually built an airplane. Since I wanted to get building again, what better than a Meister Scale P-47.
I have never built a war-bird, and it has been so long, I hope that I can do this kit justice. Just finished my ViperJet, and have table already with initial fuse framing. Was going well, till I ran out of wood for this part. There is no parts inventory, so I hope I have everything I need. Guess finishing the fuse jig will have to wait for a trip to hobby shop. I did get 'some' done. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...0d4c26ef86.jpg Most of framing done, but need more wood. Bummer. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...983df34386.jpg Trying to be neat. We'll see. Going to use GorillaGlue (white) for most of build.. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...59ed476b06.jpg What I just finished. Will maiden in a few weeks. SkyMaster ViperJet with KingTech 120. |
Honestly, this will be one of the most interesting builds on RCU in awhile. Having seen this and other Meister kits fly..You almost have to want one, unless you don't have the room !
Meister sure is a line of big, good flying WW2 birds. I will be glad to see this come along. |
Not much done today. Laundry, pick up house. ect. Need to cut some wood for crutch.

wow, a build thread.......

Lost out yesterday to fixing sprinklers. This is 2nd time yard folks cut the 10-wire cable going out of house. I guess it is my fault for not putting in conduit. Inspectors didn't find it when I purchased. Anyway, it is fixed and in conduit now.
Got the formers glued, but not lightened yet. I started on crutch and placed basic components in place to get an idea of crutch placement. I 'was' measuring from plan but found that the basic form (done above) is a little short (1/8) compared to fuse side profile. Anyway, I am a SLOW builder, but here is the crutch partially done with basic formers for layup. It's Thursday (aka, Friday eve) https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...e94a97f1dc.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...687582949c.jpg |
Finally got back to work. Life always gets in way of fun....

Had to cut the initial frame. Seems that the drawings are a bit too wide. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...c9edd164e3.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...ba1ffb6705.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...4f83fbc7a9.jpg Lineup on crutch stand. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...01b514aa21.jpg Overall shot of framing process https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...e95dc8edb5.jpg Now, how to mount this!.
