60 size Top Flite info

I've been in and out of hobby 30 + years. Full size pilot (crop duster) getting ready to work less, RC more. I have most of the 60 size warbird kits, moderate building skills, Goldberg Cubs, Eagles, Great Planes Extra 300 ect. I have pretty good flying skills. Which is easiest to build and fly as I get started? Spitfire, Mustang, Corsair, P-40. I flew a Corsair several flights years ago. SIGH I built it pretty heavy. Saito, Os 91 FS are the engines of choice as I have several. Thanks in advance

The short answer is depends of what version you have on the kits. If they are all the Gold Edition versions they are pretty easy builds of the 4 listed I would say the Spitfire and the Mustang are the easiest fliers of the bunch but they do present a few challenges on take off and landings. The Gold Editions were modified to improve flight characteristics. Some of the old red, blue, yellow boxes can be real nightmares to fly. Give us a few more details if you can.

Thanks, Mike. They are all Gold Edition. Probably as worried about a light, flyable build as much as the flying. I think my Great Planes extra only weighs 6 1/2 pounds. If I remember the Corsair I built years ago was 11lbs.+. Probably before I learned about CA glues, ect. I used the old ora (or some such) fabric and painted it. Live and learn.

Probably Oratex the fabric version or Oracote/Ultracote it is made in Germany and still available. Balsa USA started carrying it when Solartex went out of business. You should be good with whatever one you pick. I have an unfinished Corsair I traded for, a Cesnna 182 I have half built and then the P-51D and the Sea Fury kits unopened. I ended up with a short kit, plans, fiberglass parts, and cowling for a Brian Taylor Spitfire MK 1A (69" wingspan) instead of the Top Flite Spitfire kit. I thought about the P-40 but never pursued it. The Arrow II, Bonanza, and Stinson were also considered but priced out of my range. I have plans and a short kit for the Caddell Bonanza A36, it uses the same gear as the Top Flite Bonanza. I won't bore you by going into everything else I have on hand. I actually prefer Civilian aircraft.
