Scam

I just wanted every body to watch out for the scams.
I posted an item on I.M.A.A. for a sort time, and I'd received a e-mail to buy the item. At first is was O.K. for several weeks. They were going to pay me $2200.00 more and I needed to return the rest via Western Union first. When I received the check it looked O.K. and I had it looked at it was fake. The funding company who's name was on the check is real, I called them and they said don't cash it. The guy in N.C. almost lost $7,000.00 same scan. If it's in Nigeria, Africa the Federal government cant touch it. Something like that. The person had several e-mail name. They are hitting the Internet hard all over. |
RE: Scam
it's always nigeria.
what's with them? seems all nigerians are con-artist. |
RE: Scam
if it sounds too good to be true then it is. Remember these people play on your vunerabilities. Greed being number one. We are all guilty of it.
thre are many scams being run out of the former Soviet Union as well as well we have our own home grown varieties. Not sure if you have adept of consumer affirs in the states but here in Oz we do and you can check up on this sort of thing before you hand over your hard earned readies. cheers Peter |

RE: Scam
No disrespect to you are any body else, I have traveled alot and not every body like americans. Only crooked people do these things.
It's just seems odd allot of scam e-mails generated from there. I was doing some thing legal they turned it around. I don't get to mad but thats my name on that check and it's worthless, unlike some people I heard about this and checked it out. If you don't believe me call the number on that check ask then how bad it is, and they can do little to stop these people. Do to the location they have no rites to investigate? some legal stuff. |
RE: Scam
don't think it is the Nigerian poeple per se but more some loophole in the Nigerian laws allong these scammers to flourish there. Same in the CIS ( ex USSR).
Bit like banks do well in places like the Caymans due to the lax tax laws there. cheers Peter |
RE: Scam
I think you are rite, the authorities spoke with the funding company on the check,
they said they are trying to stop but they have no rites there? The person seemed O.K. then three different name with the exact copy of my previous e-mail. I sent and told the person just forget it but they kept mailing. I just spoke with a person in N.C. and is was the same situation. But for some reason the person at Western union did not send the funds and they called him, money sent is money lost, No worry about the goods only cash. I sent the check to the authorities. |
RE: Scam
Didn't it seem funny that they would send you more money than needed and ask to to send money back! Same situation happended to me when trying to sell a Harley. If something doesn't make sense then it probably is fake.

RE: Scam
I got hit with this too and almost went for it until I had two offers from two difference people on my plane wanting the same deal. I decided it was a scam.

RE: Scam
Ladies and Gentlmen: Please keep this post on track. Please do not refer to whole countries and nationalities as crooks, as we all know, it is only a few people that are running this scam. There have been many scams run over the years that have originated from many countries and this would just be the latest. Thanks Dave, forum moderator.
