Rare Warbirds, what would you like to see?
 

Ever tired of seeing the same ole, same ole warbird at the field? What rare warbird would you like to see for a change? If you have one, please share your pictures and what kit/plans they are! Looking for something different!

Two warbirds I would like to see would be the Macchi 200 and the Boeing B 17C.
The former is a hardley ever modeled. I have not seen a B17C at all. I like the lines of the earlier B 17's.
I just acquired a set of plans for a 81" Macchi. Maybe....

How about a Heinkel HE-100? A former speed record holder. An extremely cool looking fighter. Check out the three views at this link:

I'll second teh HE 100, sweet plane.
The Hein or 'Tony' (but I think Royal used to have one...)

How about a BV 141, for teh really weird looking!

How about some of teh other 'interesteing' desing that came out of Germany, such as a few of thier bombers, or their 'last ditch efforts' like teh Natter, or the ME 210

Or teh H.Hughes F-11

How about some big flying boats, like a clipper, or one of teh many Dornier designs

Focke-Wulf FW 200 Condor (although the landing gear might be a little tricky to replicate).

Heinkel HE 111

Messerschmitt ME 410

Douglas TBD-1 Devastator

Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat (again, landing gear)

Martin B-26 Marauder

Aichi D3A Val

Nakajima B5N Kate

Another vote for the HE 100.

Another interesting Heinkel fighter was the HE 112. Most, in the know then, expected that the Luftwaffe would choose it over the Bf 109. It was more maneuverable, but a tad slower. I like the sleek lines and gull wings of the 100 and 112.

- in the 1/5 scale 160" range would be nice

- as nice looking as the ME-262 but never modeled

- Germany's only real heavy bomber in quantity

Convair B-36 Peacekeeper
- in a smallish 120"+ Size, thank you very much!

I'll second a few:

The B-26 is very rarely modeled: could it be because an RC model would have the same characterisics as the full scale 'widow maker'? In any event, sure would be nise to see some of them at RC warbird events.

The Kingfisher: EXCELLENT idea! What the world needs is a scale WW II biplane/ seaplane, for those days at the lake. It would have to be a blast to fly.

OR, how about a Wildcat/ seaplane, otherwise known as the Wildcatfish? Yes, there were a few Wildcats built on EDO floats, in response to the success of the the Japanese Rufus (Zero on floats). It would be the best 2 worlds: a Wildcat that you wouldn't have to worry about that landing gear with, and a WW II seaplane.

The B-17C, yes I love those early versions as well.

The Hellcat, altho the mainstay of the U.S. Navy for most of WW II, is not seen nearly often enough, especially considering it's contribution to the outcome of WW II.

A P51 would be nice. You hardly ever see those around. :D:D:D

I'd like a Mig3 in the 80" range. I think that plane has great lines. It looks like a racer with that long nose.

I have a set of plans for a Heinkel 70 with a wing span of 57". It is an elegant plane.;) I intend (one of these days :eek:) to enlarge it to 90+ " and build it.

Dehavilland DH2 for me. ( A big wWW1 bomber like the Gotha get's my vote too.)

Lot's of great suggestions here. Just don't do a Russian Pe-2 ... please! I'm working on plans for one that will be about 140" +-.
