Warbirds over Grand Ledge Pictures (June 5 ~ 6, 2004)

1 Attachment(s)
Ok guys, I spent WAY to much time talking, flying, camping, having fun, and not nearly enough time taking pictures this past weekend while at the " Warbirds over Grand Ledge" 2 day warbird event near Lansing, MI.
Result: these are the only good pics I have, maybe some else was there and can contribute more to this post? These 2 pics show only a few of the many warbirds that were there and flew.

PLEASE ADD MORE, if you have 'em.

Also, PLEASE e-mail OR PM me if you have particulars/ pilots names of aircraft shown here, and I will edit this post accordingly.

I believe the TigerCat if owned and flown by a Traverse City area/ T.R.A.M.P.S. member.
Skyraider in behind Butcher Birds in pic 2 is owned by Battle Creek Balsa Bees member Gerald?

Great event! Looking forward to the Giant Scale event in July. Another pic of the TigerCat along with Carey Hooks and Rich Eagleston (sic) Miester FW190A's. Good People Good Flying and Good Fun! Thanks to all the CARDS for putting on a great event. Next stop, The Cliff Bennett Memorial this weekend at the Michiana SkyRaiders [link]http://www.michianaskyraiders.com[/link] field near South Bend, IN. Should be about 100 aircraft at this one. Another don't miss event.
Chuck

Turns out fellow ThunderBirds (of Kalamazoo, MI) member 'Wild' Bill Kelsey took a lot of pics and posted them to a Yahoo photo album. Thanks, Bill, and here is the link:

That Bearcat was scratch built, and looked like one fun plane to fly.
My better half and I are in P6050529. I brought and flew 3 Corsairs: the Top Flite shown in the picture and 2 electrics.

Jim, I tried the link to my (Skylane`s) pictures and ran into some trouble getting the page to load. Solutions... use Internet Explorer if you are on AOL. Or got to this link and click on the Warbirds album. http://photos.yahoo.com/skylane42

You can also find a link on my homepage.. plus some other events.

"Senior Contributor"? How do you get to be that? If AARP membership is required, then I qualify.
Thanks again, Bill, for the pictures.

Still looking for more pics tho, show us if you have 'em.

I had a great time at the CARDS, it is always a must do event. Even though it was a costly flight , I will always be back for next year and the giant scale event next month. Give me six weeks and the FW will fly again.;)

Carey, I feel for ya dude. That was one NICE FW. I heard someone say Oh-no and turned just in time to see the result. Did the plane stall on take off? Anyway, if it had been me I would have asked CorsairJock if I could use his camper and went inside and cried.

No sense crying over balsa dust, these things happen from time to time. No stall, just not enough speed to react against the cross wind that I had. My fault for not paying attention.[:@] The worst part was facing the wife when I got home.[&o]

Carey, I get around that by telling her "I think I`ll go see if I can crash my plane today". Then when I come back and if the plane is still in one chunk, she just says " Looks like today was your lucky day, where are we going for supper".

Chook, I know how you feel, occasionally I make the misses feel loved and that keeps me in the good books, at least until next time.

Hey guys, remember that crash? The FW is almost restored with a new wing and paint scheme. $200 and a total of about 60 hours, 37 hours this hoilday weekend. I will be at the GL giant flyin on the 17th. ;)

The C.A.R.D.S. have posted picures at their web-site:
http://www.radiodrone.net/images/pic...arbird2004.htm

Chook: I see you took the oportunity to refinish your FW, and with a more unique winter scheme? Great looking bird before, looks to be great looking again. From what I saw, your fuselage was very repairable, but wing appeared to be totaled (except for 'parts'). Anyway, glad to hear your got it ready so soon after the 'incident'

I'll be going to the Wheeler, IN Warbird event this coming Sat (July 17th), but without my Top Flite Corsair, as it too has suffered from pilot error (STUPID pilot). Instead, I have thrown together a Global Corsair ARF (NO RETRACTS, YUK!), and bring my 7 oz., Flying Styro 1/20th Corsair.

You forgot to mention; Free Camping, also. And, a really superb flying site. Anyone know if the dates have been set for 2005 yet?

And keep those pictures coming, there were a LOT of other great looking aircraft besides the Tigercat and FW(s).

Time for an update. Apparently. nobody from the C.A.R.D.S. either monitors this forum or doesn't have the time to do so, so I'll add info for up-coming 2005 Warbird Weekend.

This coming weekend (June 4 ~ 5, 2005) the C.A.R.D.S. are having their huge 2 day warbird event (NO, not giant scale: this one is open to ALL Warbirds) near Grand Ledge, MI, which is just east of Lansing.

Like last year, I plan on camping out there and will bring at least 4 Corsairs (and some other warbirds), hoping to get several Corsairs in the air at the same time. If you don't have a warbird and/ or don't want to fly: come anyway. They have a VERY nice flying site, and ther are always LOTS of warbirds, big and small.

Here is link to the club web-site, which includes links to previous years events:

Corsair Jock,
The post just before yours lists the 2005 dates. Also we are WEST of Lansing, not East. There is a map on the website to get a better idea of where we are located. WWW.Radiodrone.net
