Kyosho Texan
Anyone have any recent success with these? They are on sale now at Tower for $192, I think. I was considering buying one, but researched here and it appears people have trouble with them being tail heavy and stalling on takeoff.
What is the verdict? What size/type engine would balance it without nose weight? I have seen pictures of it and it is a smart-looking plane, but don't want a hangar queen. I am looking for something I can put 1000 flights on! Any ideas? |
RE: Kyosho Texan
i have 2 of them.
Planning on OS 70 engines. Looks like a super plane. Very easy to get tail heavy. Lot of posts on this plane do a search I think it is worth the 192. Although a while ago they were 164.00 thats when I bought 2 Greg |
RE: Kyosho Texan
And, you get $20 off for spending $150.
I installed a Super Tigre .61 on mine. 1400ma battery pack against the firewall (vertically) and a Harry Higley Ultra Heavy hub (4.5 ounces) - Balanced right on. The .61 was adequate but a .75 would be ideal. Don't even think a .40-.46. I'm talking 2-strokes of course. A .91-1.00 4 stroke would work as well. In my opinion, the best (scale) looking AT-6 out there. You'll be happy! :D |
RE: Kyosho Texan
Gotta find my darn Tower discount codes...
You say it is better than the H9 Texan then? I am considering this also, as there is a retail ad in the marketplace for the H9 for $189. I was considering the Thunder Tiger .91 FS... and some kind of an AT6. JR or Futaba servos... yada, yada, yada. I appreciate the advice (with a C). Advise (with an S) is a verb. No, really thanks! |
RE: Kyosho Texan
Haywood, I can't speak on the H9 texan other than it's appearance. The nose looks too long to me. But from all accounts I've read, it performs ok. It's a 67inch span vs. 62 for the Kyosho.
