I'll have to see how they compare weight wise - thanks!

How did you mount the battery?

ffdq,
Were did you buy your 6V 2200MAH battery?

Old Fart1,
Are you using a 6 V battery and were did you buy it?

I have been getting my batteries (6V 2700aMh) from Pegsus but they're $39.99...they're getting steep to replace.

I went 6V - IIRC I got it from Tower hobbies. Might drop in at Pegasus this Friday if I get a chance - i need to go out to our other airport (ONT) anyway

RE: CMP Hellcat

They look good - you'll have to try them and see. Most of my planes are electric, I've had both good and bad luck with cheaper batteries.

Should I be mounting my RX battery in a foam block, or otherwise protecting it? Been 35 years since I flew glow, if I remember - I used to wrap the RX battery in foam.

Vintauri 06-04-2008 11:24 AM

RE: CMP Hellcat

I always wrap them in some foam to give them some cushion from vibration.

I am almost done with the inital paint and decals. I have some weathering and detailing to do yet but I'll see if I can post some pics of my Hellcat later.

Cool Steve - pictures are always good. Maybe I'll replace the wallpaper on this PC with one of them (it's currently one of the earlier ones in this thread).

If you can - post pictures of the inside of the fuse - always looking to see how others have installed equipment.

Where's Mankato? (have family in Jordan)

Vintauri 06-04-2008 01:23 PM

RE: CMP Hellcat

Mankato is about 40 min south of Jordan on 169. I can post pics of the inside of my fuse but it'll look odd. Mine is a conversion to electric power using A-123 batts. :)

But I can show it off anyway.

I'll have to throw a wing or something in the next time we head out there.

Hey guys, What would be a good two stroke engine for this plane. Something with plenty of power but I dont need unlimited vertical or anything crazy like that.

RE: CMP Hellcat

I wouldn't use less than a .91 OS 91FX one of my favorites but I think the OS 120AX would be a good choice.

traxxboy 06-08-2008 01:30 PM

RE: CMP Hellcat

thanks. I know with some of these china models the engine recomendations may be off

RE: CMP Hellcat

I have a ST G2300 in mine. It's way overkill, but I only need 1/2 throttle for take off (and less for cruise). Also, You can use the weight, and the big engine chugging along at partial power sounds a lot better than a smaller engine sreaming at full throttle. ;)

Mines almost done, all the servos are in, RX is installed. waiting on UPS to deliver my Slimlime Pitts muffler, then I can finish the cowl - if all goes as planned there'll be a YS 120 firing up Thursday night!

Does anyone know if the landing gear covers are still availiable? If so could you point me in that direction.

thanks

OldFart1,
So when you going to put that baby in the air. Let me know I might want to take a ride out to the Narrows to see it fly.

Thanks for the pictures, very nice setup.[sm=thumbs_up.gif]
Let me know how that Slim Line muffler works out. I have used them in the past on 2 strokes but I had a problem starting the engines easily because there is no baffle and there wasn't enough compression. Maybe different on a 4 stroke.[sm=50_50.gif]
I had to plug the tubes with that JB weld stuff (Steel Reinforced Epoxy Weld) then I drilled them out to a smaller whole size. A trick I learn in one of these threads…it actually worked.
Good Luck
