RE: CMP Hellcat
jsut for fun with mine, I've been thinknig of using a co2 powered set up to fire some darts from my plane or something. Hmmmm since I dont fly at an ama chartered club I could use some small 13mm estes A10-3T size model rocket motors, card board tubes about 1 and a half inches long with palstic tips and fire em at other planes during combat. The duration of these little motors is very short, and they can't lift a lot of weight. This is all just a idea I might enjoy thinknig about, but not actually do. Yes I know ama says you cant have any kind of explosive or rocket proppelled projectile from your plane nless it remains firmly attached and is not bigger than a G series high impulse rocket motor. However, it is permitted to use motors up to a G series to proppell a radio controlled or even free flight rocket (jato jett assissted take off) plane.

RE: CMP Hellcat
ORIGINAL: Black Drape Hot Rod I have Lukes cockpit kit mostly painted, now it is time to apply the placards, but I don't know what type of glue to use on them. They are printed on heavy paper and I would hate to have any glue come through them. Any suggestions? Ron Fragmentum |
RE: CMP Hellcat
Hi all,
Well I have now read and archived this entire thread. I obtained my CMP Hellcat and am getting ready to bash it the way HalH and dionysusbacchus did theirs. dionysusbacchus made the cockpit kit and landing gear door as well as a more scale canopy for this ARF. He has however not logged on for a very long time and his site has not been updated for an equally long time. My best guess is that he has for now left the hobby. Of course they did this in 2006 so not only am I late but I am very late. So this leads me to my question: Can anyone help me with finding a source for these or equal items? And does anyone have and are willing to provide me with the templates that dionysusbacchus did other than the ones he posted on this thread? Thanks Larry |
RE: CMP Hellcat
I have the cockpit kit and I don't think I'm going to get around to using it. I am however using the gear doors so I can't help you there.
Send me a PM and we'll see what we can work out on the cockpit. Steve |
RE: CMP Hellcat
Larry , what templates ?
|
RE: CMP Hellcat
LDM,
I looked through the thread again but could not find exactly where they mentioned sending some templates via e-mail. At any rate the only things I did not find templates for were the hinges they made for the rudder and elevator and a template for a ply former for the cowl. It looks like they used robert pin hinges for the flaps. I have the templates for the tail wheel/retract and aleron hinges they made. Larry |
RE: CMP Hellcat
LDM,
My scale building abilities are limited but I am looking to improving them. The best way I know of is to copy the efforts of someone that I admire. Presently I am finishing up the redoing of my Hanger 9 Spitfire. I did a full cockpit using a topflite kit. I have stripped the covering and sheeted the wings then glassed the entire structure. (This was my first glass attempt) I plan to try my hand at panel lines and rivites. Larry |
RE: CMP Hellcat
Larry,
I'm doing a 1/8 scale Hellcat and will be producing vac formed gear doors in the not too distant future. If you can wait a bit I might be able to acomodate you. Chad Veich |
RE: CMP Hellcat
Thanks Chad,
Waiting is something I am good at. Besides there are a lot of things to do with the Hellcat before I get to the gear. I do appreciate the offer. Larry |

RE: CMP Hellcat
I am using the century jet retracts and they work but I'm not happy with how sloppy they get over time.
