Completed DS B-17
1 Attachment(s)
Here are a few photos of my completed Don Smith B-17. It took two years of work to get to this stage. It weighs approx. 45 lbs, and is powered by 4 RCV 90sps, swinging scale 15.5x14 props. I test flew it during open flying time at Top Gun, and it flew well, although not for very long. It seems I miscalculated on the prop pitch, resulting in bogging the engines down below their best power. It should have a bit more power with 10 in pitch props. As it was, I landed after about 10 seconds of flight when i judged the power to be marginal, and i didn't want to risk stalling. The second B-17 is Mitch Epstien's "Nine 0' Nine".

Two words....
Wow.......and Wow! |
RE: Completed DS B-17
Howard, Nice, very nice indeed! I know Mitch, a real good guy, and Nine O'Nine is a superb model. In fact, Mitch's B-17 was the first airplane featured on my website!
Best of luck with her, Rob |

Nice work
I have a RCV120sp and the manual (online) shows a 3 blade prop to be 15-10 I think. So if the 120 is using a 15-10?? Check it out. Good luck with the B-17 Steve |
