Best medium sized FW190 ARF?

Although I'm a newbie and am just building my trainer, in the future if my skills allow it, I would really love to get a FW190 ARF. There are a few on the market but was wondering which is the nicest. A 56" to 66" sizes would be nice. I don't like the D-9 version or long nose though. I think the short nose looks the nicest. Also for that size would something like a Saito 91 4 stroke be ok to power it? I also like the Great Planes Stuka ARF.

Are there any other nice German WW2 fighters in that size and ARF on the market??

thanks for your help

my recomendation is a tough one,,,,, I would recomend the great planes Fw190 A8 Arf.... unfortunately they dont make it anymore.... once in a while you will see them on e-bay,, and they still go for $200.00 .... I have had mine for over 10 years. It was the first plane I had. (not the first I flew though).. easy build, and FLYS GREAT!!!!! lands like a trainer, flys like its on rails, and moves like a rocket.... I only have a .46 fx in mine (.61 fx or .82 saito would be better) and it moves! Retracts add the nice touch.

If I had to get another FW190, the only one I would try is the CMP or GSP or Raiden Tech (all same model) Fw190.... is the short nose version w/ a 70" wing span.... going to need a 120 4s for it though....

Just remeber, with any short nose 190, you should go with a larger motor, or heavier motor.... they tend to balance tail heavy due to the short nose, so you might as well put the weight to good use!!

Good luck

Sportsman Aviation used to make a decent .40 size FW190 A. You might still be able to pick one up somewhere. The color scheme is crap, but it will turn out to be a nice looking plane if you recover it. Also EZ had a nice looking FW190 A (expensive though). Once in a while it shows up on RCU Marketplace.

Thanks for your help guys!

I am worried the 70" one will be over 7kg full up weight. In Australia you need a permit to fly anything over 7kg.

yep, 70 inch will come in at about 12 - 14 lbs.

In reality, the great planes, lion, and ez... were all the same, just different paint scemes... gp had the best in my opinion.

I can't find GSP or Raiden Tech in the RCU User review section.

I think the CMPro is the one to get. I can't find anyone selling the other versions on online hobby stores in Australia.

As long as I can make it fly under 7Kgs it will be ok.

there was a gp 190 on ebay that sold yesterday,,, i was going to buy it as a spare but it went for over $150

just keep in mind that the cmp's can be a touch harder to build than gp arfs, but bigger is always nicer!!!

Thanks guys,

I think the options are, either the 70" CMPro FW-190 or the 56" Sportsman.
