Problem with Robart 620 Struts
I am flying a Midwest AT-6 with the Robart 620 air Retracts. I am having a problem with them bending almost everytime i fly it. Now, not to toot my own horn or anything but, I am landing this plane as smooth as anyone can. I have been flying for many years and have had experience with retracts for many years. However, i have never had a pair that keep bending over and over like these. It is almost like the the metal is weaker than it should be. They are bending right in the bend of the offset. I have also discovered that one strut is longer than the other by 3/16" of an inch. The first couple times i did not think a whole lot of it but, this is happening all the time now (happened today). My (grass) field is smooth and has never posed any problems for any of the other guys and their retract systems. Can anyone give me you opinion or ideas on this problem? Has anyone else had this problem with these struts??
