fedex and a big zero
 

I ordered a 80 in zero from AKM on the 20Mar06. The ARF arrived on the following Thursday with a hole in the box, and into the wing. I called fed ex they told me they had to see the entire kit so I repacked it and they picked it up the following day. I then called Alex to let him know what had happened. He told me to take pictures so I did, and forwarded them to him. He told me He would send me a new kit in about a week when the damage report was settled. Well this Friday was three weeks and still no ZERO!

I e-mailed Alex asking what was up on Tuesday he said he would call fed ex and get back with me. The next day I called fed ex and was told its their policy not to cover damage to model airplanes! I retorted with how can you do this after the fact! You can’t pick up a package for delivery and not expected to cover damage to it! If I had known this I would have demanded it be shipped with another carrier. Myrtle was the guys name, and he retorted it is their policy. This is tantamount to fraud!

What do you think?

Call fed ex and tell them what you think! Because the next victom could be?

Any suggestions?

Paladin, FedEx owes you a new plane. I have an account with them and I've never had a problem couldn't be worked out. Usually they will send you a replacement and let you keep the damaged one. Normlly they don't even require photos but I keep them just in case.

Joe,
Call them again and try to talk with someone else. I shipped a Hangar 9 P-51 from Connecticut to Washington State with them and the box and plane got damaged. In about 3 weeks I had a check for the amount of a brand new Hangar 9 P-51. It was very easy to deal with them.

I didn't know AKM sells an 80" Zero. Do you have a link to it?

The boxtop in the pictures says it is 2100mm.

Richard. it does have flaps. look at the channels required. I also double checked before FED EX took it away. Still know word on my fedex Zero?

PS its perfect size for those g38 41 etc we all have lieing around because they are not bigg enough for our bigger planes.

Kmot, my second one left AKM today so when I get it I'll put a ruler on it for you. This plan was perfect for me I have a magnum 41 sitting on a shelf. I also have a set of cj retracts without a home, I've gotten the new parts from the model shop to make them fit the zero, they wont be exact scale but they will get the job done.

Just hope it arives in one peace!

Well its here, and undamaged!

While unpacking and checking it over I took the measurements needed to figure the servo size needed. The measurements I got are to follow:

Aileron
Length: 18.5in
Cord: 3
Assumed max airspeed: 120mph
Max control deflection: 15 degrees
Max servo deflection: 30 degrees

Elevator
Length: 15.25in
Cord: 3
Assumed max airspeed: 120mph
Max control deflection: 15 degrees
Max servo deflection: 30 degrees

Rudder
Length: 10.25in
Cord: 5.25
Assumed max airspeed: 120mph
Max control deflection: 20 degrees
Max servo deflection: 45 degrees

Flaps
Length: 13.25in
Cord: 3.5
Assumed max airspeed: 80mph
Max control deflection: 45 degrees
Max servo deflection: 90 degrees

While I have my own formula it si so similar to this one and it is easier to use. See the URL below:

Aileron each = 40oz-in
Elevator each = 33oz-in
Rudder = 70.5oz-in
Flap each = 95 oz-in

Plug my numbers and see if you get the same numbers
