RE: cmp planes?
Both are great looking planes. I have the F4U Corsair (50-sized that is) myself and its a good flier :)
Just be aware of that CMP has the CG's wrong in the manuals! |
RE: cmp planes?
Hi all..
i had only one CMP plane - the Zero. This plane is famous with it, that it does not fly well. And with the CG ... that is absolutely correct. When i think about the plane...- i have to say it was a bad decision to buy it... regards Tomas |
RE: cmp planes?
The bigger CMP planes fly better but every RC plane is the same in one respect and CMP is in this category . CMP did a great job on the "candy dressing on the small planes" as a result mnay builders get lost in the candy .
With that said 1)keep them as light as possible -watch how you use your expozy 2)CG is critical , use a CG formula to ensure its correct 3)INcidence -use a tool to measure the stab , the basic set up on these planes will have the stabs incodence wrong , aslo make sure your wing incidence is also correct . 4)use a wood propeller until you get all of these excatly correct , this way if you nose over , or land hard you can get away with a broken prop and not a bent engine shaft or torn out firewall |

I have the CMP 50 Corsair and I love it. The CG on the planes are off a bit and I can't remember exactly what it should be without measuring it again. Only thing I remember is that if you use the plans CG, it will be tail heavy. I had a OS 46 on mine and that is only marginal on a grass field so I went with an old OS 61 I had laying around and what a difference that made. I can now get plenty of ground speed before takeoff without any problem of the plane snapping. You will see in my pictures I completely repainted it and put the machine guns where they are suppose to be.
