Does anyone know where to purchase the reduction drive unit that fits the Dynatron starter?Thanks

Sounds like an OK guy on the phone...has a great product...but geeeeezzz. If it weren't for folks like me to pass around his contact info'...no one would know where to call to buy one. It's become like a cult. When you call, tell him to put up a web site, or sell 'em through some big distributor...maybe Horizon hobbies, or Tower....and he should send me a complimentary rubber cup, or belt, or something... for mine...just for sending loads of business his way.

Hi Nick....That's interesting...I don't get the magazines anymore...other than the AMA thing.
Online seems to be where most stuff is found these days. Are you the "Stuka" Nick from AMPS? This is the Jim who most embarrassingly crashed the P-47 in Ocala 2 weeks or ago.
It wasn't me...it was a sudden gust of gravity!

Like others have said, it's a great product. Give them a few extra bucks and get the Battery holder/storage box too. It comes with the wood precut and sanded, wire and connectors to set it up for 12 and 24 VDC. Once put together take it to Batteries Plus or the like and get a couple sealed 12 volt batteries for emergency lights. This thing will turn over anything but a small block Chevy. :DWhen you call they will ask what size spinner/s you are using to make sure you get the correct size cone.

Hi Nick...Either I never knew about the Aerofest...or I've had another senior moment. heh heh. Give me the details..warbird or big bird etc. The calendar ahead is filling up, but I'll sure try to make it. It's been a while since I was last at the AMPS field, so I'd enjoy the visit down there.

Nope! That is all the info from his "label" on his starter. The last time I spoke with him...over a year ago....he sounded like he wasn't much interested in the business anymore. Too bad...it is a great product. It's good to see something that really works...and does what he says it will do...but then this guy doesn't care to promote it. He isn't online at all as far as I know. No email, no website, and apparently he doesn't even have a telephone answering machine either.
Maybe you'll have to send him a letter....via the old fashioned "snail mail". heh heh.
Good luck....and please do let us know if he, and his business, still exists.

I know your looking for the reduction drive... but tower does have some of there products..
I bought the miller big grip for my Dynatron starter.. I have the same starter
if you run it in parallel with two batt. it bumps up to 24 volts and it's very strong... starts my zdz 40 and DA 50 no prob
you may already have known but just a thought

I don't really remember what I paid for the entire setup, couple hundred or so, I bought the entire package from them. The Millers do a lot of roaming around flying so keep trying the above phone number. When I bought mine I had to leave a message on their phone, maybe the answering machine is full. ;) When they came home Linda<?> called me and it shipped the next day.

By the way, the jumper in the middle of my box is to put the two batteries in series to give you 24 volts to the starter. I've seen them start a 3W 150 and will be trying it out on my DA 150 this weekend. On 24 volts you can't stall it with your hands wearing gloves so I'm sure it will fire just about anything we play with. :) Some don't like using starters on the big gassers but hey, I can still count to 10 without taking my shoes off...

that's perfect I bought my dynatron specifically to start the RCV 120 and keep 10 fingers. The starting wand is worthless.

I agree. Didnt' want to mess with the wand or put a hole in my cowl.

I also wanted one handed ability without any cables hanging to a battery box etc., so I just tie wrapped a 6.2 ah battery to the bottom and moved the switch so my thumb could press it. the tie wraps crapped on me shortly after this video, so I just wrapped alot of electrical tape around it and its perfect.

I left a voice mail for Miller RC Thurday. He called back today. Odered by phone with credit card. Not cheap but worth saving fingers on right hand. As I recall gear reduction unit about $115 wooden battery box $40.
Will give more details later

I got the kit . Few minor issues
Major issue. How do I get the Aluminum Drive cup off the Sullivan Starter. I have the retaining nut out. But the head is suck on the shaft. I'm affaid I'll ruin the shaft if I try to grip it with something. Is it threaded or do I need some sor of gear puller?

Mark the hub is threaded if I recall correctly. It might even be a left hand thread, sorry but I don't remember exactly.

I talked to Miller RC. I got the hub of without detroying the shaft. FYI, the alluminum cup is threaded on. Will finish this week. Thanks again for all the help
