Mark Turner -RT models Final chapter

Well as many of you know and have helped me , I finally got my plane back . I am not going to bash anyone , just state some facts , thanks to all the RCU members who supported me in there own way , and the RCU website by allowing me to post my issue . If it was not for this combined effort I could not have predicted a good outcome .
1)contracted to get my plane built to covering stage , with all RC gear , retracts and engine installed .
2)received my plane , wings are about 90% framed just missing wing tips and airlerons , no biggie - no servo installed (parts are all in the box)
3)fuse is about 60% built , no servos installed , engine mount installed upright , I will turn sideways , one retract installed .
4)all parts seemed to be returned , all radio gear , engine and retracts .
I paid in full and I glad its over and I got everything back regardless of the stage .
Weird thing was so many stories , original plane was supposedly lost in a fire with all support gear and supposedly all gear was replaced , yet my retracts were the same , the super tiger engine -if replaced came with no box and my radio gear if replaced came with no box lol .
So as others have stated there was a lot of "urban legend type communication " going on :D.
Again , I am extactic to get it all back , regardless of paying in full for an anverage of a 75% build , its a point that looks fun to complete .
Thanks to all for your great help and support for not even knowing me personally .
Lou

Thanks Rich , I agree , there is one other guy on RCU that is still waiting , I know it seems like things are starting to go in the correct direction for RT so I hope that the other modeler receives his parts as well
Thanks for the help

The book is not quite over just yet...

Lou, glad to hear you got most of your stuff back. What you won't get back is the time you had to take to deal with this and the stress it involved. I have maxed out on both so I'm a subject matter expert. I have made a deal with Mark to get my planes finished as his #1 priority. I've been waiting for over 3 years so I hope I rate some consideration. You actually sucked away some of my prime time with your stuff you hog! :D I'm just happy you had some success.

Here is what Mark still owes me (with misc gear, engines, servos, yada yada yada);

TopFlite SR9
Byron AT-6
MR Aerodesign Beaver
118" Ziroli B-25 framed and sheeted

I'm not in the business of slamming anyone just for sport. I have been very patient over these 3 years and I just want to get it wrapped up and get what is due me. Mark knows what needs to be done to make this right. We'll just have to see if he does it. If not, this thread will become a weekly event for me. I'm being rather civil and nice right now and if I don't see progress very soon that will have to change.

Geez, this makes me wonder how many others are waiting.

RE: Mark Turner -RT models Final chapter

I hope not many. I would not want anyone else to go through this. It has been a very difficult time for me trying to remain positive and not just give up on the hobby.

Alan you are so correct , I am trying to be kind in hopes that you get all your product . Its not everyday that i walk away from lost promises , missed deadlines , paying in full for uncompleted work ect ect .
I want it to work out for you so we can all move on . This plane was a gift , my wife feels very bad about it and I keep telling her it was me that chose the builder not you .
Oh well , good luck Alan , keep me posted
Thanks
Lou

Hey Lou, glad to hear as others have stated that you got your goodies back. If I may ask, where was RT models located at?
Thanks and get to building those planes this winter!! :)

Didn't Mark get cancer? That's what I understood to be the case, that he has some real health problems...

Birddog-RCU 10-17-2006 05:21 PM

RE: Mark Turner -RT models Final chapter

I think that is a question that only Mark can or should answer. I do know however that whatever situation Mark has had be it family or illness, he has had ample opportunity and time to complete contracted work. If your question is leading to whether or not Mark has the capacity to complete the work or not I would say he does and 3 years should have been ample time to get er done.

RE: Mark Turner -RT models Final chapter

Point taken. Entirely.
That's a LOT of time, and a LOT of stuff we are talking about here. You have been very patient, and remain so. I'm not defending him, I can't. There is just too much money we are talking about here. I wish you all the luck in the world, and I should hope that I myself would be as patient as you have been. Good luck.

RE: Mark Turner -RT models Final chapter

Rt is in Ocala Florida .
As far as Marks health we dont know what to trust , you see me and many others felt very bad for Mark and the variuos issues he has stated . However he did not have the aledged issues during the contracted build nor did he have them when he told me my plane was done , crated , and he just needed me to pay .
Then I got this story ,
1)I have to build a crate , weeks went by - ok I thought you said it was crated and you just needed final payment ?
2)Then it was -I called UPS , went out of town and locked in on the screen porch , they (ups) wont cut the screen -weeks went by
3)then it was the fire , but "good thing your plane was not burnt but the crate was on the porch and it was burnt -ok how did the plane that was in the crate get out of the crate so that only the crate burned up ?
4)then I was told in the end , that my plane did burned up with all the parts , and the delay was caused by him replacing everything and trying to rebuild the kits that was difficult to find .
5)then after all threat , purchasing a ticket to Floida to settle this in person , I miraculously received my plane in aprox 65% built stage no gear installed in any way , parts all over the crate , a box of schambled sh.... and guess what the other gear -used Retracts , new engine and radio gear was all included just like i sent it , so it again miraculously survived the fire that burnt the original plane to a crispy fry .It musy have hopped out on its own from the burning plane

So , as promised (that I just broke) yes I was very compassionate with this person , forgiving , patient , paid in full with the same story , camera broke bla bla bla , so as not to sound cold , I dont know what to belive about this person , fire , cancer , just dont know because so many things never add up in any way .As stated , glad I got it back , glad i can built it , not going after the money , if he has problems god bless him and I hope he gets well .In closing may last call with him before i ever received my plane I said "Mark what can I do for you , do you need money , can I give you my UPS account so you dont have to be charged any shipping (witch I paid aprox $175 prior ) he said no . All this extension of help to an unknown person that on the other end , knew what he was sending me vs what he had promissed .

RE: Mark Turner -RT models Final chapter

I don't have anything positive to report this week. I haven't really seen any real progress and my stuff never gets priority. I'll leave it up to you all to make your own decisions about Mark but every buyer who requests an ARC, AFR or kit from RT Models gets put in front of me and I have shelled out over $4k. That just isn't right. If the tables were turned you can be someone would be pounding on my door for payment. Mark... you just don't understand the impact this whole thing has had on me and my family.

RE: Mark Turner -RT models Final chapter

What did this guy charge ya'll to build these planes?

LDM 10-20-2006 04:31 AM

RE: Mark Turner -RT models Final chapter

Alan very sorry , I hope that its gets better .
Eric , at this point for what we received -Toooooo much !!!!
His prices were about the same as other quoted builds , I only selected him because of his nature on the phone and in emails was trusting -shame on all of us .

His quote on shipping was aprox $75 to crate , $75 to ship .
Crates that I received were actually re-used crates that someone sent him a plane in , he then crossed out the names to re-use , that was ok with me but consdiering that he did not encurr a charge and he charged me in full for a 65% build well that is simply unethical .

Lou,
very pleased for you mate. It would have been a travesty if such a good bloke as yourself lost out on this. I know you did not get exactly what you contracted for but given the state of play I think you have exceeded your walk away point by some margin and like you say it will now be fun to complete the build yourself.

Beside the building is the best bit! :)

all the best with it!

cheers
PEter

RE: Mark Turner -RT models Final chapter

Thanks Pete , as always you are first class , how is the building going , what do you have on the table ? I am bashing a seafury from e/bay /willshobbies , not a bad plane for the money . Very nice glass fuse , short on info because it was not popular on the Us warbird scene

RE: Mark Turner -RT models Final chapter

Lou, one of the reason I asked, is because I was thinking of building (or offering to build) for people. I really enjoy the research, and building, more that flying. Now I do fly but I have some sport bARF's for that.
