world models 40 size p-51, only $190 with retracts, very maeuverable yet easy to fly, goes fast with even a .46 in it and slows righ down for those nice three point landings. mustangs in general fly great though.

RE: What is the nicest flying warbird you've flown

I would have to say my World Models .40 size P51 also. It was a fun to fly, scale in flight and on the ground plane. My favorite warbid I ever flew was of course my little B17 but it was difficult to fly and when I had trouble it went in and was totally destroyed on the 2nd flight. My Top Flite Spitfire is also a nice warbird but a bit hard to keep on track. It was the best looking one too. But the P51 takes top score in all areas, scale flight, scale looks and scale landings.

I am building a 1/9th scale Don Smith B17 (138") wing span B17 and I am sure that will become my favorite.

Hangar 9 Hellcat, without a doubt.
With a Saito .91 swinging a Master Airscrew 3 blade 14 x 7 for power, all up weight (without full) is 8 lbs, 4 oz. It can actually hover with this setup, so why would anyone need more power?
Hangar 9 Corsair, Dynaflite Corsair, and Great Planes AT6 are among my other good flyers, but the Hellcat just flies so effortlessly, with abosolutely no bad habits: it's a relaxing change of pace.

Byron Hellcat, Byron corsair and Yellow P-47............. "they all fly like a trainer"

RE: What is the nicest flying warbird you've flown

I love my P-47's. I would have to say the best flying one of them would have to be my Brian Taylor P-47. 76" wingspan with a G45 in the nose. A little over powered but slows real nice with no tip stalls and tracks like it's on rails. Second best would be my old Top Flite Red Box 47. Well over 300 flights in 5 years. She is my go to plane for everyday warbird flying. :D Check out my birds in my gallery.

De Havillan Chipmunk .60 size, scratch built from a Model Airplane News plan. It flies very realistic, it has got flaps too, it can be flown like a trainer or it can be used for teaching to new buddies, yet it is capable to perform any maneouvre.
What can I say more than this....

Thanks for all the replies guys, realy interesting, keep 'em comming.

For me, its a mates H9 60 size Mustang, but I've only just got into warbirds and not flown many.

A friend at my club has just got his H9 Hellcat into the air and he says it flies realy well.
Once he's got a few scratches on it I'll try it out. ;)

Seems like Mustangs are a firm favorite though.

h-9 P-40 OS91fs swinging a 14/9 3blade really zips along and floats in for landings. just got my H-9 Mustang together looking forward to the first flights if the wheather would calm down a bit

Every one of the Hangar 9 warbirds (P-51, P-40, P-47 [both sizes]) and soon to be tested....Spitfire! But that Top Flite P-39 sure flew well too!!!

Hard choice but I'm going to go with the Byron Corsair. Not sure why, as it certainly was not the easiest to fly warbird I've had. I guess maybe it was just the satisfaction level, flying it just felt good.

I enjoyed my 40 flights on my Brian Taylor spitty, and the 8 short flights on my
Brian Taylor Jug. both grooved very well.

I also enjoyed all the World Models ARF's I had back about 5 years ago. very solid flyers.

my all time favorite now, my 93" Saxton Zero. flys well, just grooves along very nicely
