Warbird has been expanded in Modeling circles to include any Aircraft which served in military uses from 1903 -the 1950's at least that used to be In full scale circles it used to be all WW2 airplanes were considered warbirds but that has changed as early Jets are now considered warbirds too so who knows? The Difference ????
Occasionally, "warbirds" seem to be attached to those military aircraft that are pre-Korea, and prop driven, whilst "warplanes" appears to be attached to those military aircraft Korea era and later and jet powered.
This is my guess, based on all the coversations I have had with respect to military aircraft in general. Ray oh good grief, a classic example of not reading all the posts before you reply, exactly what US185 Damiani wrote. |
