Keeping this thread alive. There are still kits popping up but I believe we will start seeing people picking up and doing rehabs.

Ported scoop to air flow through rear half of fuse. Half a wooden train whistle epoxied in to give whine at certain speeds.

Since there seems to always be confusion on if gear is 85 or 90 degree. This one is 90 degree. 3.25” wheels will fit instead of the 3”

Biela 17” prop generates a ton of torque requiring slow throttle advance and a steady right rudder through climb out until flying speed is reached.

Thank you for posting this picture of the 90 degrees retracts. I have 4 TF GE kits, plus 4 rehab projects work in progress and waiting for my retirement if I can live long enough LOL.
I have often wondered about this, in fact, returned Robart 90 degrees for 85 degrees. . The TF instructions recommend 90 degrees, and seeing your photo they look fine.

KaP2011 12-20-2020 07:59 AM

The 90 degree retracts do make it a little more stable when turning on the ground because of the wider stance but it triggers my ocd. The 85 degree look better to me.

ThunderBoat42 12-20-2020 12:57 PM

I’m doing same. Accumulating projects projects for retirement. Even plastic models for when I can’t get around good anymore. We have the COVID now though and it’s kicking our butts.

here is the 90 degree head on. Vs full scale. It’s undetectable in person in the spread and yes.... you are correct ... huge difference in ground handling.
most Are looking at the prop anyway. It does command attention.

Hello,
I purchased off eBay trustingly a number of years ago a yellow box P-51 70's era, fouond the canopy cracked and broken. Does anyone know where you can get a replacement ? Perhaps someone might have an old canopy in their spare parts box they no longer want or need.
Thanks for your help.
Terry

Have you checked Fiberglass Specialties INC?

TerryW 02-11-2021 09:04 AM

Yes, and no they don't carry that item. I tried Dynamic Balsa as they carry some of the canopies but have not responded back as yet .
Thank you

I am assembling a 60 size TF p51 ARF. Considering the Robart electric retracts. How are they holding up?

Nice buy!

Anyone looking for a Top Flite Warbird or cockpit kit I recommend checking here: https://planesgoneby.com

It's a one man shop but he is lowly adding to his kits and cockpit kits. Personally I'm saving my pennies and waiting for him to finish his Bonanza kit.

In the past year I cut a deal with a local flier for TF GE Spitfire, P-39 Cobra, and P-40E kits. I plan on purchasing a few cockpits from the above link.

I am assembling a 60 size Top Flite P51 ARF. Getting ready to install the stabilizer . Test fit the elevators. Found some twist so I attempted to apply a little bend in the elevator joiner wire. It broke. So I am looking for one. I know its a long shot. Let me know if you have one.

Thanks, Dale

Dle20 choke?

Hey everyone!
Anyone reining a DLE 20 and if yes,how are you running the choke? I was going to grind it off and use a steering arm from a nose gear steering. So dumb the way the choke are is.

For my scratch built Ryan SC-W project, I made one like it using piano wire, a piece of brass for the horn, two wheel collars. After assembly I soldered everything together. I ended up removing the pivots I didn't need them.
