CMP Retracts

Hey fellas,

Do the CMP retracts (3/16" wire) work? I want to replace the 5/32" retracts in my ModelTech P-47 with something more substantial. The CMP retracts are cheap in price, which makes them attractive. I like the looks and sophistication of the new LADOs but not the price, and I feel similar about the price of Robarts and others. So yeah, I am looking for cheap! Do the CMPs work good enough, just barely, not at all? Thanks. Jon

RE: CMP Retracts

I had a set of the CMP retracts in my 50 size Zero. They functioned well but were too stiff and did not survive a moderatly rough dead stick landing. The plastic housing cracked. The tires I had were the original CMP tires which were very hard. Had I had soft low bounce tires, the housing may not have cracked. I guess for the price, buy two sets!

Hi, these retracts are not so horrible, r.m. the mechanic works well - but you have to change the wheel diametres.. if you want to use the whole kit with wheels,.. so use a little bigger
Dont scare - i have the same retracts on the Mustang and it works good - and our field is not the best possible ..
regards
Tomas

Thanks guys. I ordered the CMP retracts. Also getting some 3" wheels and will have to enlarge the holes in the wings to receive the bigger wheels. Looking for larger wheel wells now. Jon
