was very nice to see a field so very well kept .. above all .. the track here in Italy our tracks are completely made of grass ... I do not know if this is due to a practical fact .. "I think it ... but I would agree if they were coated with bitumen, however ... who merely enjoy!

Thank you for your useful information on #11. Here is some more information my friend Don came up with

Just FYI,
I'm not sure when I'll get back to the Corsair.
Presently, I've to 12 new windows (with trim), a wall of oak book cases to make, a new front door and new cedar siding to put on my daughter's 1919 house (not counting her 'to do list').
That and trying to PM warbirds for the flying season (lots of flyins to go to) leaves little time for the corsair.

Sam,

I think everyone here understands that some items, especially family ones, go to the top of the list, where they belong!

Thanks so much for all the work you have done so far to show us with "not quite built yet" CARF Corsairs so much and in such great detail, and excellent craftsmanship.

We'll be delighted when you can get back to it .. I suspect you will too :-)

RE: COMP ARF 110" F4U ARF WITH FOLDING WING ASSEMBLY

Are there servo recommendations for the folding wing corsair? (number of servo's, Size and torque). Comp-Arf's site or the instruction manual gives no info on this. Also how long does it take to get the hydraulics package? I've had the kit for about 3 weeks now and still no hydraulics kit.
Thanks,
Luckyflyer

Hi Guys,

Just trying to evaluate a power system for my CA Corsair. What rpm are you guys with the Moki radials seeing with the 28 x 18 prop?

What about others who have flown this thing, what is it's speed range? Trying to figure out what prop pitch and rpm (pitch speed) I need to hit to put this plane where it wants to be.

Thanks,

Lee

Hello Sam,

please, you can tell me whether to purchase the air cylinders of 4" for the canopy?

Many thanks for your answer

Luciano,
Iused 4" but I'd go with the 5" for a more scale opening:
Darrell has them:

Here is a picture of mine taken during a practice flight for Top Gun 2009. Came 2nd place/ Pro Am Pro, flown by Jason Shulman.

Note the tail wheel is not "tucked in" to the proper scale position. The retract mechanism was faulty and was replaced before TG flying.

Has anyone out there put in a non-radial engine in this plane and flown it yet? Which engine did you use and how well does it fly?

RE: COMP ARF 110

iflyf4u1a:

I also plan to put atwin-cylinderengine in my Comp-ARF Corsair. The cowl has a diameter of 12.5". There are a few choices. (A) 3W 110 cc, (B) 3W 157 cctwin spark, (C) BME 150 cc.

3W 110 has a cap-to-cap distance of 12". It will have no problem to fit. I hope someone can offer his opinion as to whether this engine has enough power to fly this 40-45 pounds bird. A regular 3W 110 costs $1195. A CS version (advertised to have12-14% morepower) costs $1470.

The regular 3W 157 or DA-150 will not fit. But 3W-157 twin spark should fit. The cap-to-cap distance, measured by different people, is from 11 7/8 to 12 1/8. It definitely has enough power, but it cost $1975.

BME 150 has a cap-to-cap distance of 11.5", and the price is OK: $1350. Question is, how reliable is this new BME engine?

RE: COMP ARF 110

You have many good points in there. Even though the BME is expensive it is no where near the cost of the radial though. The Corsair is my favorite plane and the Comp-Arf looks incredible and the cool factor of the folding wings is awesome. I just don't know if I can swing the bucks involved in getting one set up. Probably have to hook me up to a defibralator on the maiden flight if I did.

RE: COMP ARF 110

You might try e-mailing the Comp-arf sales staff and ask if any of there customers are flying this plane on a twin. Darrell at Sierra told me he knows of several planes flying and that did not include mine or Graeme's.

I wonder what Graeme's all up weight is? My guess is 55 to 60lbs...... How close am I Graeme? Wonderful job.........

Oh, I forgot I had one more question for Graeme.

Why did you not duplicate the squadron artwork or for lack of better terms, seal?

For those that are using the RCS 250 or 215, do you have to take out the cowling every time you need to check the adjustment of the engine valves ?

YES......you end up taking the cowl off a lot.

THose planes look fantastic............

Does the plane ship out from the factory with the inner-door detail??? or is that extra work???

has anyone assembled the ARF- version (with all the prefab-done, like the folding wings, hinges ect)????
How much work was involved???

Would a Moki 400 fit??http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...sn/biggrin.gif

wacokiwi 06-11-2009 09:41 PM

RE: COMP ARF 110

There is no inner door or wheel well detail with the kit from the factory. The hinging of the doors is also not scale. The hinges are not off-set type.

As for the Moki 400 fitting....I don't think so. The 250 is tight.
You can get a detail Kit from me if you are interested.

hope this helps\\

You can make the gear fold more (in up position) by adjusting the position of the bracket that holds the locking brace to the main strut (up the strut I think).....but only a little bit!!! Then you may find the strut hits the Carbon fibre spar!! I ground away some of the spar to allow the gear to retract fully. I am using my gear door linings and off set scale hinges which make the doors thicker. Even so I got them to close completely.
Hope this helps
