Spitfire?
Does anybody out there know of a kit or plans to build a 1/6 scale Spitfire to have a 30 or so cc gas motor?

RE: Spitfire?
Mick Reeves Models in the UK make a nice 1/6 scale Spitfire Mk.IX kit. A 1/6 Spit only runs around 74 inches span so I think you will be hard pressed to fit any sort of gas burner in there without it sticking out all over the place. Plus, 30cc's is way more than you'll ever need. A good .90 two stroke or 1.20 four stroke will pull it around just fine. If you want to use the gas burner I'd be more inclined to recommend looking into the 1/5.5 scale Brian Taylor design. Not a kit per se but most of the pieces can be gathered up from various sources including a fiberglass fuselage and other accessories from www.vicrc.com.

RE: Spitfire?
Thank you both for your help. I think the shipping to Oz will make this way too expensive. It might be light but the size of these kits is what will make the shipping $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
Surly there are plans for a 1:5.5 spitfire for mt 23-30cc gas motor. And I could make it with balsa like a beginners kit????????? I love the tiny 4 strokes for a 1:6 but they are also $$$$$$$$$$$? Gas motors are easy for tuning and purchase. I will have the time to build one from plans but will a balsa 1:5.5 be strong enough? |
RE: Spitfire?
Buy the Brian Talyor plans and build from that if you want to build from balsa.
