8 Full Scale B-17s @ Willow Run/ Ypsilanti, MI, Aug 7,8
 

Largest gathering of full scale B-17s in quite awhile, since the movie "Memphis Belle" was produced, and will likely be the last one this size.
Location: Willow Run Airport, just west of Detroit (Michigan), at the site where Ford Motor Company produced thousands of B-24s during WW II.

In addition to eight (8) B-17s listed as flying during the show, and additional three (3) B-17s will be there in various stages of restoration/ repairs.

B-17 rides are available ($$$), as well as rides in a 2 seat P-51C ($$$). BTW, there will be a 'few' Mustangs there as well.

But there is even more: many other historic warbirds will be there, flying and performing demos, AND re-creating land battles.

I am fortunate to be only about 140 miles form this show, so I'll be there. Anyone interested in seeing full scale warbirds, without all the modern acrobatics shows: this is one show not to be missed.

Cost: less than you would pay to 'land' at some R/C warbird events (but no free hats and/ or polo shirts)

I'll be there bright and early. I turn 30 on the 7th so the wife is treating me to a nice day at the show. I was disappointed to see that the Me-262 is no longer scheduled to appear.[:o]

I attended this show in 2008, just awesome!!!! Had been to EAA Airventure the week before and though Thunder Over Michigan was heaps smaller the fact that it was ALL warbirds made it a great show. I got to see 4 P-47's fly together as well as 4 B-17's, 2 B-24's and a B-25 together.[X(]

Would love to go again but it's a long trip from Australia:(

BOLTMAN, 2008 was my first year there (went there last year too), and now I'm kicking myself for waiting so long (theve've been doing these shows for maybe a decade or more now).
Like you said: these are WARBIRD ONLY airshows.

Last year they had four (4) B-24s, which is the most I have ever seen together (I used to go to Oshkosh, but never saw that many at one time).

Yeh, forgot about the Me-262 which was originnally supposed to be there this year, sure would've been nice to see that streaking thru the Flying Fort formation.
