Default scratchbuilt battleship Mikasa, looking for advice

Greetings, fellow modelers. I am building a 1:144 scale model of His Imperial Japanese Majesty's 1st-line battleship Mikasa for the sport of RC Naval Combat. I am already an accomplished shipbuilder and combat skipper, with two cruisers, five transports, one destroyer, and three battleships already under my belt. This project, however, is aiming not only to build one of the finest fighting warships of all time, but also to show off how detailed a combat model can get. This is a very ambitious project: predreadnought battleships have lots of fittings, casemate guns, boats, cranes, air vents, and really tall sailing-ship masts that must be present in order to convey the feeling of a predreadnought battleship. Furthermore, all details must be tough enough to stand up to a real beating, as they will get shot repeatedly by large steel balls moving at 160 fps.

A lot of these details I have already figured out on previous ships. For example, resin-cast boats stand up to fire just fine when I use flexible mounts that allow them to absorb a hit rather than reflect it. Masts are effectively indestructible when made from carbon fiber, with joints reinforced by lightweight thread and epoxy to form a composite, and elastic rigging works wonders. I already know how to handle the above-deck parts. What I do not know how to handle are the hawsepipes for the anchor chains. On most ships, the anchors were simply raised up until they were inside their hawsepipes, which makes for a very easy resin-cast part that can simply be glued on. But not on predreadnoughts. Predreadnought battleships, including the Mikasa, often had complex methods for storing their anchors on deck, a throwback to the old days of sail when anchor management required catheads and other fun hardware to prevent the anchor's metal parts from bashing through a ship's wooden walls. I want to accurately model this feature, so I can run the anchor chains through the hawseholes and back to the anchor decks, but I have no idea how to do it. So, anybody got some ideas?

Arrgh! My network connection is being temperamental, so I cannot consistently upload photos directly to RCU. Anyway, here's some links to photos:

A couple color photos of the real ship:

And a photo of the cannons I will install. These were laser-cut, by the way, easy to produce.

Looks to me like plastic or metal tubes could be used for the hause pipes, just a matter of finding the appropriate sized anchors and chains
