Hi All,
I know subs have not had much success in the combat hobby, but take a look at this website. http://puremtc.com/products/submarine_items/index.htm
It definitely makes a 1/144 Gato possible, still lots of technical problems to overcome, but for the true "nut", it'd be fun!! The key words here are "nut" and fun.

Actually, we have a couple of combat subs in our club (WWCC) that are deadly. Building and effectively campaigning a sub is difficult, but not impossible. However, the subs are the Surcouf (French) and the IJN I400. They are the only subs large enough in 1:144 scale to build and arm practically.

I hear about a German U boat that was big enough to be equipped with 2 single mount 8" guns on its deck. is it as big as the others you mentioned stiletto? And I cannot find the class name of this sub. I keep thinking, if its big enough for 8" guns it ought to scale down to a arm able ship!
Please help.
