info on r/c ironclad kits?

Hi All: I am an airplane r/c guy, but am interested (always have been) in Civil War ironclads. I'm wondering if anyone out there can point me in the right direction for any ironclad model kits that can be floated on ponds or small lakes. Is there any combat group potential for ironclads, or clubs that do this sort of thing? I live in the Denver area. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
DaveGee

A guy in the Western Warship Combat Club (in San Jose, CA) wrote up some rules for Ironclad combat similar to the Big Gun style rules and built some models (Cairo, Monitor, and a Confederate ironclad). I think he only armed one of them, and never battled. There is an [link=http://www.combatships.com/]old website[/link] for another guy who tried to start up an ACW combat club, but it has not been updated in several years, so I think it's dead.
I am not aware of any model kits that can be converted to RC, but I prefer scratch building boats.

There is a 1/144 scale Monitor kit out there, but it would be a tight R/C and very difficult to arm. It would also need a very still pond for sailing. I think Tower Hobbies carries it. Most ACW stuff would probably be easier in 1/72.

Dumas made a 1/72 USN Monitor / CSS Virginia combo but discontinued the kit late last year. You may be able to locate one still in your LHS or on Ebay.
