Good Evening All,
I'm progressing nicely and anticipate Silver Wings assessment (have Solo'd a few times, Landings need work!! LOL). I am interested in alternative covering materials other than commercially available Iron ons & the like. Research has brought Nylon Fabric to mind but dependent on weight/ plane size it can become too heavy. From what I can gather one needs a covering weight less than 1 1/2 Oz Sq Yard or 60 Grams Square Meter (absolute Max, these are recommended by an English Builder of
I'm flying 1.5..2 Meters/ 60..78" Span and looking to build Sport/ Stand Off Scale. To date closest I've found is Ripstop Nylon (66.2g m2) which has an unfortunate cross weave. I've also just ordered some umbrella type nylon (plain weave) to weigh/ test.
Hoping some of you folks out there might be able to point Me the Right way. Not scared to use Dope, interested in cheaper creative alternatives ( Having said that love Oratex as a covering). Have noted some other posts regarding Stit, PVC mixes an the like. I'm more intersted in covering materials, love Oratex, Monocoate not for Me (too fragile).
Sincere Regards,
RW
