GSP Hellcat (RCV90 or 120??)
I am purchasing a GSP Hellcat.. I was trying to decide which motor to put in it. The plane weighs 10lbs, 70" WS... It calls for a 90 2C, or a 120 4C. Can I fly this on the RCV 90? I was seeing if I could get away with it, or should I get the RCV120? I want to use a 3-blade prop. Didnt know if there would be enough ground clearance with the RCV120 with a bigger 3 blade prop?
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hi
The Hellcat is a great looking war bird and I think the 90SP will be perfect for this plane.
With regard to a 3-bladed prop, our recommended size for the 90 and 120 are near enough the same. I hope this will give you enough clearance:
Recommended APC style 3-bladed prop sizes:
90SP - 15x13Wm 15,75x13 or a 16x10 Master Airscrew
120SP - 15.75x13
I hope this helps, if you have any more questions, don't hesitate to reply
Best regards
Laurenne

I have the same plane and I decided to go with the RCV 120 and yes there is some clearance issues but all you need is more pitch and less diamiter.
I sure would like to know your thoughts after you fly the hell cat.
I am waiting for the return of my motor which I had sent to Otto for modifications and can't wait to try the bird out.
if you could, shoot me an email after your maiden and let me know what you think. I will gladly do the same for you.
Good luck!

In reference to your question about size.
I did read a report on the GSP corsair (slightly heavier than the hell cat) and that is where I was introduced to RCV. The reviewer used the 90 and said it had plenty of power.
So you are definately safe with the 90.
Have fun.
