Does your RCV 58 do this?
 

I am now breaking in my new RCV 58 after the last one threw a rod and was replaced under warranty. I was a little disappointed with the first one. Rough running in the mid range, hard to get a reliable low idle, spewing oil/fuel every where. Now the new one is much better!!! :D I have just run it about 45 minutes and it idles down great, great transition, smooth running.

The only issue I have now is the vast quantity of oil/fuel that comes out and gets every where. It comes out the front bearing area, out the carb, and a fair amount out the breather. Does this get better with more break in, or is it just a trait of British engines? My Laser 150 is a gusher out the front bearing too.

I love the compactness of the RCV (and Lasers) and hope to continue to use them in the future as they are great for scale aircraft due to the compact height.

I would be interested in other users comments regarding this engines pros and cons including props and fuel used.

My wish list of improvements to really make this an outstanding engine would be: to fix the carb fuel inlet proximity so its farther from / not pointing at the mount, offer different bend (80-90 degree) exhaust pipes, and reduce the leakage past the front bearing. These are minor issues but should maybe could be incorporated on another size model in the future.

Overall, I think this is a very good engine for the price.

I am very pleased to hear your replacement engine is a good performer.
With regard to the oil, this should reduce with more running in, however we have added a modification to the latest engines to reduce any oil further. Out of curiosity are you using a fuel with some castor content? as we find this improves any oil leakage.

If it is any help, although we do not supply separate exhaust pipe bends, we do use a standard thread fitting M11x0.75 (for the 58CD, 90SP and 120SP) so you can use exhaust pipes suitable for other 4-stroke engines (such as OS90FS).
With regard to the carb, you can turn the carb by 180 degrees if this is of any help.
