 I am building an 82" Eindeker from a cut-down SR Telemaster wing. (stand off scale.) I had planed to use a ST 90 but the prop is not scale. Will a RCV 120 work. I understand it will turn a big prop. Hopefully plane will be under 12 lb Attached is an image of my cal.

RE: 82" Eindeker

Thanks for your enquiry.
I have had a look at this type of model and found a review of an 80" Eindecker (http://www.modelairplanenews.com/reviews/fokker.asp).

Assuming it is going to be similar to this model and under the 12lb mark, I would probably opt for an RCV90SP. This will not give you as much power as a Super Tigre 90 2-stroke engine (as the 90SP is a 4-stroke), however it should certainly be more than adequate for scale flying. The RCV90SP will turn an 18x12 2-bladed propeller, 15.75x13 3-bladed, or a 15.5x12 4-bladed, which should certainly give you a scale appearance and will look fantastic against the large cowl.

I hope this helps
Best regards

:) I have a RCV 90 on order. RC Hobbies Huntsville Alabama is getting one for me. The question is will the RCV 90 be comfortable with a 20 x 10 prop? The chart says 18 x 12 but a 10 pitch props is easier to find and 20" is scale for my 82" Eindecker.

Hi John

You could certainly try a 20 x 10 prop with the 90SP. We haven't tested this combination ourselves, however it should provide adequate power. A size 10 pitch is the absolute minimum we would recommend.

I hope this helps

:D Thanks for the info. I will try the 20 X 10 and post the results. It will be some time before I know the answer. Next on my list of goodies is a tachometer. This is my first big 4 cycle engine and first scale aircraft. Before, if it didn't fly -- so what! With this project it will pay to be careful.

I would definately like to hear how you get on, and when the plane is finsihed we would love to receive some photos to add to the gallery section of our website.
To ensure there are no problems, run your 90SP on a test stand for approx. 2 hours before mounting in the plane and flying. The SP series engines really do benefit from this longer running in period and you will certainly be rewarded with your patience, with a smooth running, reliable and long lasting engine.

Best regards
