91-CD died in the air
Hi Laurenne,
I recently posted pics of my ModelTech P-47 with a 91-CD and oil collection installed. Up to today I have been very happy with the engine. It started easily and I was just getting it broke in and had just accomplished a good low idle however, today it died on a 1/4 to 1/2 throttle flyby. The plane didn't crash (whew!) but when I walked out and picked up the plane the prop just freewheeled (the nut is not loose). After removing the engine from the plane the crank turns perhaps a 1/4 in either direction. I fear the connecting rod is broken or come off. Please advise Thanks Bob |

Hi Bob
I am very sorry to hear that your engine has failed, this is very unusual. If you could email me your full details ([email protected]) I will issue you with a warranty log number and the details of our US service centre. Best regards Laurenne NB. Sorry for the delay in replying but I wasn't receiving notifcation that there were messages in this forum. |

RE: 91-CD died in the air
Just wanted to follow up on the engine repair. Bill emailed me when he got my engine and again once it was diagnosed. It only took 1 day to repair and is already on the way back. The crank pin was sheared.
Great service, Thanks to all involved Bob |
