RCV 91CD oops during run-in

I fired up my RCV-91CD today. It ran a bit rough, and I noticed some oil coming out the front bearing.... Then I realized I left the black cap on the crank case nipple. Ugh. The engine runs better after the cap is removed and there is less oil/fuel around the front bearing. Is it possible I damaged anything???

Hi Dave

Oops, if all else fails read the instructions ;)

Don't worry, you should not have damaged the engine by leaving the cap on. I am pleased your engine is running better now.

Best regards
Laurenne

Thanks! That's a relief.
One more question, I know that the instructions recommend Omega 10%, but carrying a 2nd fuel jug just for the RCV is not optimal. I use 15% S&J fuel (castor oil lubricant)... would this be acceptable?

Hi Dave

I can't find any listing for S&J fuel, so cannot give you a comprehensive answer.
Between 5 - 15% nitro is fine, so that is not a problem. You mention it is a castor oil lubricant - do you know what %. This could be a problem as although we recommend some castor it is important not to use more than 6%. Anymore than this will cause the very rough running. In fact on the CD series, if you can't use one of our recommended fuels, we prefer you use a high quality synthetic oil.

I hope this helps

Laurenne

Hi Laurenne,

That's very good to know. Luckily, my club stocks 15% in both Castor and Synthetic flavors. I'll most likely switch to the synthetic! Thanks again!
