Air leak?
I was trying to fire up my VX-18 yesterday, and I got it running great, but then after a couple mins it just leaned out and quit. I couln't start it again. However, I noticed there was fuel leaking out of the HS needle. There's the problem. How do you seal the HS needle without ruining the threads, do you just put a lil on the threads and screw er back in?
Just as an FYI the backplate is also leaking :/
Like a sieve.
Gotta order some sealand xD

RE: Air leak?
Yeah, I did some more research and found green slime was the stuff. Basically it leaks all over.... No problem. I'll seal it at the same time as my Picco .28. Nice couple lol

Have used green slime my self on the needle valves and I use Permatex High- Temp Red RTV silicone gasket maker on the back plate and the the carb where it inserts into the crank case and have not had any issues with leaks.

RE: Air leak?
There is a O ring seal on the HS needle, they go bad and have to be replaced
Backplate-either the gasket is leaking or the bushing is wore out and it has to be replaced

RE: Air leak?
Don't think the VX-18 even has a backplate gasket...
Its a crappy chinese engine... But I'll make a gasket, no biggie... As long as it runs.
