Default Blackout xte brushed battery

Wanting a lil more power but not ready to go brushless yet so what the best battery I can run in a stock brushed blackout xte?
I've seen videos of ppl using 2s-3s lipos but not sure if they where using aftermarket ESC. Was considering lipos or 5,000 NIMh any info is appreciated, thx

I have the same truck. The stock ESC can handle a 2s lipo. I haven't ran a lipo in mine yet but was considering the same thing. I have seen the video of the 3s lipo, but it says that damage can occur using anything over a 7.2 volt battery. It's hard telling how long a 3s would take to smoke the motor or ESC or both. As far as using a larger MiNH (5,000), from my understanding that will just increase your run time (any one with more knowledge feel free to correct me) I bought a 5,000 and a better charger and I haven't seen an increase in speed verse the 3,000 it came with. I hope that helps. How do you like your blackout btw? I love mine, but debating on where to upgrade from here. I'm new to the hobby. I had a traxxes Tmaxx nitro about ten years ago and hated it. Electric seems so much easier. But those pump gas engines have peeked my interest, but I would have to see one run and talk to ppl who have driven them for a while.

Thx, I had several nitros few years ago but got out of the hobby, just get 2 blackouts bout a week ago. I'm happy with it so far for the price, just want longer run times and maybe lil more acceleration. These are my first electric so I'll have lots of questions to come. Would a lipo 2s give it more power or just longer run times?

And yes I read all the reviews and I know redcat does not have the best reputation but these two are mainly just to see if my son will be interested in the hobby, didn't want to spend a bunch and a month later he lose interest.

Ballinonabudget can u estimate the difference in run time on the 5000 vs the 3000 it comes with? I get about 15-20min on the 3000

The LVC is set by moving the jumper plugs on the ESC . Should be in the manual . A small set of pointy nose pliers makes it easy to do . If you can't work it out let us know .

You will get 66.667% more runtime with the 5000mAh pack compared to the 3000mAh. Using a 7 cell NiMh battery is about the same as using a 2 cell LiPo battery. So going from a 6 cell pack to a 7 cell NiMh/2S LiPo, you will just see a "boost" in speed and take off. And just because someone "goes brushless" doesn't mean instantly having insane power. A person still has to choose what power they want when looking at a brushless motor. You can go from mild to wild just like brushed motors, only you don't have the upkeep to deal with using brushless motors.

I would definitely like to upgrade all three of my trucks. We have two Blackouts and a Volcano. All non Pro. Brushed motors. I got a few 3800 Nihm batteries to increase runtime. Do they sell a faster Brushed motor so I don't have to switch all batteries to Lipo just yet?

im looking to find a 3s capable ESC, so i will let you guys know how that goes.. I burned up my original motor trying to run 3s, i switched it out for the traxxas titan 12 turn, and it has WAY more power, more punch and more speed. I normally run 2s, and its a little more powerful than the 6 cell nimh.
Just ordered a super cheap 3s brushed esc with fan from ebay, hopefully it holds up.

2s lipo with the titan 12t runs close to 40mph. (it can keep up with my revo 3.3 that i run low gearing)
