I have a Redcat Volcano SV that I purchased new on 5/9/09. I completed proper break in and have only used ~10 times casually (no off-road yet). Today I encountered the following problem that I am unable to resolve:
When I powered on the remote (first) and truck (second) the two would not pair. After some general troubleshooting (checking wires, batteries, etc) I discovered the only way to pair them was to remove the crystal on the truck (with power turned on) and reinstall it. Once paired I could power off / on the remote and they would remain paired. However if I powered off the truck they would loose pairing and again I would need to uninstall / reinstall the truck crystal with power on.
I tried two slow test drives after pairing, however after ~3 minutes of use at close range they would unpair in which case I had to chase down the truck and pinch the gas line to shutdown. Unfortunately my truck is not usable in this state. How do I determine what the root cause is and / or get it repaired? Seems like it could be crystals, the pc board / little electronic box in the truck and / or the remote itself?
