RE: racing redcat lightning
Here's the support thread for the Lightning.. LightningVX Support Thread Its 7 pages long, so there's probably someone in there who raced it?? From looking at the ad for it, I'd say its definitely raceable!! Just find out what tires and spur/pinion combo the fast guys are using at your local track. Also, if it's not posted in the support thread, try and find out what header/pipe works the best on the motor it comes with, to maximize the power.. It reminds me of the Traxxas 4-tec that I got when I first started racing 1/10 onroad electric touring cars.. There were alot more expensive cars available, but at the local tracks, the driver is alot more important than the car.. If you practice and have good skills, you should do fine with the Lightning!! Good luck and let us know how it goes if ya get one!!

RE: racing redcat lightning
I actually found the lightning with a select few upgrades to be a highly effective club racer. Of course going with the sh.18, preformance header, aluminum pipe, aluminum hubs, with dish foam wheels and a much better body (in my case a hpi toureza) and you have a winner.
