compatible fail safe
 

Hi all i have the earthquake 3.5 with the 2.4 ghz radio ive tried dynamites fail safe and it wasnt compatible , guess what im asking is what fail safe is compatible with my EQ 3.5

I was told by my local hobby shop that if you're running a 2.4 gig radio a failsafe is not needed ....I don't how accurate this is but I've had my Earthquake since May and haven't run one and haven't experiencedany problems as of yet.

i havent had ant problems either but ive heard all the horror stories about them going out of control id rather be safe than sorry .

If your batteries run low on your transmitter, even if it's 2.4, you're going to wish you had a fail safe.</p>

thanks i had bought a dynamite fail safe but couldnt get it to work right kept going full throttle took it to my LHS and he couldnt get it to work right either but ill give the red cat one a try and see what happens thatnks for the info

Yes this is true you diffently need a fial safe. I use the one from redcat in all of mine they work great.

switch the wires around on one plug., sounds like they are backwards.

ok an update bought the red cat fail safe does the same thing as the dynamite one , when i program it it goes to full throttle .

Are you doing it correctly?

Hold the program button THEN reverse on your transmitter.

Make sure to plug-in the failsafe where your throttle/brake servo is located(i'm guessing chan 2).

yes im doing it correctly per instructions

1.<span></span>Remove throttle servo plug from receiver.
2.<span></span>Plug male failsafe plug into receiver where servo was plugged into, plug servo plug into female plug of failsafe.
3.<span></span>Do not start car, put transmitter and car power on,<span></span>apply full braking on transmitter, press and hold set button on failsafe for 5 seconds.
4.<span></span>Test failsafe by turning transmitter off and leaving car power on, if failsafe is set up properly, brakes will be applied fully when transmitter power is turned off.<span>


I think its cause im using a futaba s3003 throttle servo if that matters at all , ive tried reversing the wires on one end and that gave me no response in throttle .<br type="_moz" /></span></span><br type="_moz" />

well just got back from running my EQ and i lost control of it it went full bore out of control lol lucky thing tho it went into a ditch and flipped on its lid now if i could find a working fail safe for it id be golden , on to futher probs ive replaced battries in my radio and my reciever and it still acts like it wants to go out of control ive inspected the antena its fine , before it done that i ran 5 tanks of fuel thru it and was on the 6th when it happened .

Hi I had the same problem then I found out the 2.4GHz dsm-2c radio that comes with the earthquake has a built in failsafe. Just turn both your transmitter and truck on then find the small black button next to the red LED light on the receiver. Apply full brakes, or your desired failsafe position and hold, then with a small screwdriver or hex wrench push the black button on the receiver and hold until the red light starts to blink {3-5 seconds}. Then release the button THEN the brake and it should be set. Test it by turning your truck and transmitter on applying full throttle {engine not running} then turn your trans. off and the failsafe should activate just like external failsafes.hope this helps

The only button on the dsm receiver that comes with it that you can push that is next to the led is the bind button that is used to bind or connect the reciver to the radio. When the led light blinks it is letting you know that it has been bind or connected to that receiver.

There is either a shortage in the electronics or the radio or reciver is going bad. Check all the wires very carfully especially by the switch were you turn the car off and on to make sure they have not been cut or damaged they are very easy to damage because when changing out batteries it is very easy not to get all the wiring completly inside the box and the lid can damage the wires. Also check the off and on switch and make sure that it is giving you full contact in the on postion i have had to replace a couple of these also. If you are using the AA batteries check the battery holder and make sure the batteries are in tight and you might want to put a rubber band around the batteries and the holder to make sure they stay in place and keep power. But there is a short some were in the electronics. Hope this helps and hope you are able to find the problem.

ok an update i went and bought a new factory red cat reciever at my LHS i havent fully tested it yet but there is no throttle twitching in my servo , so far i think it was the reciever like i said i havent fully tested it yet and thanks for all the help and info

that is actually the failsafe button also, trust me I had the exzact same problem now mine works perfectly with the built in failsafe

I have a earthquake 3.5 2.4GHz with the Fly Sky GT/ DSM-2C radio and reciever that I bought three months ago. Although neither Redcat or FlySky tell you this when you buy it,it does have a built in failsafe. I tried several external failsafes and none would work,I e-mailed Redcat and then I was told that my radio system had a built in failsafe. You use the bind button on the receiver to set the built in failsafe. See my previous post for instuctions,after folowing these steps. my Earthquake 3.5 2.4GHz no longer goes to WOT when the transmitter is turned off, it goes to the position I set with the built in failsafe.I've had trouble getting some people to believe me because there is no mention about this feature in either the truck or the radios' manuals. But if your truck has the same radio package as mine it has a built in failsafe. Hope this is usefull to somebody else, I don't want anybody else to waste hard earned money on a failsafe that is not needed like I did.
