RE: redcat problems
The best thing you can is call redcat on monday and explain everything that has happened in a nice way; I know you are frustrated right and it is understanding but if you call them up demanding and threatening them it will only make matters worse and will get you no where.
Believe me I know from experience; just be nice I am pretty sure they will work with with you. Obviously it is an issue with the rx an the tx; I am pretty sure they will replace whatever needs to be replaced for free. Just tell them you want send the car in have them look at it; tell them to pay for the shipping costs. That's what I would do. |
RE: redcat problems
Ya man, Best thing to do is contact Redcat directly, And posting "JUNK" is not the way to go about it, even with electric rc's, You still need to know stuff about the hobby, these rc's aren't really toys and need the proper know how. I don't know how long You have been dealing and running rc's but take sometime to research and gain knowledge before posting rants like this.

RE: redcat problems
so ur telling me experiance is supposed to pursway my judgment on spending 450 bucks on somthing that doesnt work right and i have to go weeks no without being able to use it, snow will probly come before i can use it, you are telling me that junk isnt the right word? i mean come on, maybe this is a harsh way of doing it, but hell im pissed off its easy to say that when its not your money!!!!
|
RE: redcat problems
Not exactly man, I can see why Your ticked. But like I was saying, Experience is key, these rc's aren't exactly toys and You need to have the know how to "tune" them properly, I knowwhen I first started the hobby, 99.999% of My problems were operator error! And no junk isn't the right word. It's probably a faulty part which doesn't make the Redcat company overall junk., I know the urge of wanting to get out and zip around before the snow bud, Now have You contacted them?

RE: redcat problems
Alright then, But I don't make assumptions, Just years of people walking in and ranting, waving slander around about a good company that has more than excellent service and great products, I don't by anymeans think Your stupid and don't know what Your doing, But that's usually the first issue in here.. I don't know why they haven't contacted You back yet, Whenever I have had an issues it was only hours and at the most day or 2, That I was called back. Good luck man
And PS.. Nothing in Your first post says really anything or makes a lot of sense.. I bought a redcat earthquake 8E less than 2 weeks ago, and have had nothing but problems, first night i turned it on it took off out of my arms in full speed and went straight into a wall after about 200 feet, the great hobby store i went to was kind enough to Warranty one for me right away. (the ZOOMROOMin newmarket, on ) so i started out with my new one(New what?), after 1 charge of batteries the new one is doing the exact same thing only not right away, on the website it specifys that i need to take it directly to them for warranty . what the hell is with that?i just paid 450 bucks watched it go into a wall and just prevented it from happening a second time, there are also other ppl on this site complaining about the same thing,I think i figured out the problem my buddy has the same truck and i just switched out the reciver and the transmitter and not it works of but,( huh?) after shutting the dam car off so abruptly (with the on/off switch) i mean what else ya supposed to do when its full blast in your hands and you cant controll it? RE: redcat problems
Sounds like user error.
Having an RC taking off is common. For example; loss of power, turning off transmitter first, reciever damage, ect.. You have to be careful when dealing with nitro and electric RC's. Redcat has great affordable RC's. Their customer support is as good as it gets. |
RE: redcat problems
This may sound a little obvious, but i justpurchased 4caldera 10E's and2 of them did the same thing. Turned out that the throtle trim was set all the way up :) So now I ALWAYS check the trim before I everturn on a new truck. I hope this helps. I have never had any problem with Redcat serviceor URCHobby,(where I buy EVERYTHING from), those guys are top notch.

RE: redcat problems
ok just for kicks i put my old tx and rx back in the car (they are already binded) truned my transmitter on first, before doing that i set all my trims to 0, as soon as i turned my buggy on it went full power, i have tried this 4 different times in 4 very different places just to make dam sure its not the area or any other bull**** going on, after tying it 4 times again it actually blew apart my front diff from stopping so abruptly fine whatever not listening to buggy boy anymore lol so i put a new diff into it swapped out for my working rx and tx and walla it works again just fine. HOWISTHATNOTAPROBLEMWITHTHEPARTS!!!!????? so i went into it further i went through the binding process with my current rx and tx no proeblems put the old one back in and it doesnt bind THEREISNOCOMMUNICATIONBETWEENTHETO HOWISTHATUSERERROR??

RE: redcat problems
and the fact that other ppl on this site are running into the same problems READTHEFORUMS, and this is MYSECONDCARTHATHASDONETHISINTHELAST2 WEEKS, in my opinion its just junk
|
RE: redcat problems
just an update. put in the new front diff, grinding stopped for about 100 feet then started again, now the centre diff is blown all this from shutting it off at an instant stop on full power from the rx and tx not working the way i see it REDCAT owes me a new car this thing is less than 2 weeks old !!!!

RE: redcat problems
LOL, I really don't care if You don't listen to Me. I'm trying to help but Your being very difficult and product bashing, I'll be asking for this thread to be deleted and then You can re-post a new one, With a friendly tittle and a better attitude, And dirtysouth is correct, Redcat has some of the best customer support for being labeled as a lower-end RC manufacture compared to the high end brands, So Redcat not contacting You back quickly, Leads Me to believe You were "not so nice". And I totally get Your frustration about spending Your hard earned cash on something and it doesn't work properly, But I've been there, With My first Redcat Buggy, I didn't know what I was doing and ended up smashing it into a curb, And just like You said there was a few others with the same issues, But it was figured out, I talked to Redcat politely and got some free parts. But good luck again bro.

RE: redcat problems
my aftershock 8e has proven very durable, and i drive it hard. i just had had to shim the diffs and thats it
|
RE: redcat problems
dont get me wrong iv heard good storys like i said my good buddy has the exact same car and its fine BUT i got junk
|
RE: redcat problems
Kev, I am going to agree with that, it's rare but some people have recived and over all faulty RC, I don't know what happened... Maybe quality control had a brain fart on that one..lol.. But I'm sure Redcat will replace whatever You need.

RE: redcat problems
Its does make sense to take all of the wiggle (play) out of the diffs. What a great idea.

RE: redcat problems
I have had a FRedcat for five years and it's still alive and kicking! And if you would just be smart and turn on your transmiter firstr then the carthen that would fix your problem. It was my first car andit's stillrunning and on top of thatI won races with it.I won against a Traxxas Slash, a Slash 4x4, an Associated sc10, kyosho rb5, rct4, Hpi Firestorm 10T, a Losi XXXT and a Losi Strike.
if all else fails then a simmple fail safe will fix everything i know all of mine wwork fine and i sell them. always turn the transmitter on first. that's a basic rule of all rc. nitro or electric. take care of your vehicle and it will take care of you. if you have any other problems tell me. |
RE: redcat problems
but i did have the transmitter on first it was going full speed in my hand my buddy played with the trims while i was holding it at full speed and tried turning off the transmitter there was no stopping it, it took out the entire driveline when it stopped
