questions about redcat 1/8 scale
which one of the three would you guys prefer for bashing? do i have to shim the gears or something since idk what that is. and can i request to redcat or the dealer im buying from to not send me the lipos? because if i can, will dual NIMH work in it since it works in a ton of other 1/8 scale? sorry for all the questions lol.

RE: questions about redcat 1/8 scale
i have the earthquake 8e. havent shimmed the diffs on mine. its not that hard to do, and not every model will need it done.
the earthquake i would think is the best basher, higher ground clearance....bigger tires ect. redcat sets the price dealers can sell the vehicle for. so even if a dealer is willing to pull the lipos out, you would still have to pay $299.99. and im sorry but a pair of nimh packs will never power the truck like the stock lipos will. im gonna be alittle mean here.....you need to get over your fear of lipos! they are simply awsome. treat ANY battery the wrong way and it will be bad. treat any battery the way it is supposed to be used and you wont have any problems. start watching vid half way through, some serious earthquake bashing. RE: questions about redcat 1/8 scale
my earthquake 8e on the stock lipos is a beast. i also upgraded the lipos to the 5200's and 30c and whoa......

RE: questions about redcat 1/8 scale
yeah i know but i have seen other 1/8 scale rc cars from other companies running on dual NIMH batteries and they were running awesome!!!

RE: questions about redcat 1/8 scale
why don't you want to use the lipos?
|
RE: questions about redcat 1/8 scale
We use the NiMH batts in our rentals (backdraft 8e) mainly because of the expense of a toasted lipo. That said they don't even compare when it comes to performance. The lipos litterally blow away the NiMH packs.

but they still work?

RE: questions about redcat 1/8 scale
Yes, they will work fine on non-lipo, but you cannot buy them without the LiPos and the LiPos are WAY better than the other batts. They're completely safe... Buy a $15 Lipo safe charge bag for charging....

RE: questions about redcat 1/8 scale
Yup, but it's a pain to go back and forth. If your running NiMH, you need to turn off the low voltage cut off or you will only run half the pack off. Make sure it gets turned back on before running lipos. You lose 5 or 10 mph with the NiMH.

RE: questions about redcat 1/8 scale
yeah im fine with loosing speed. but for the low voltage cut off, where can i find that setting to turn it off? on the esc?
|
RE: questions about redcat 1/8 scale
Iuse a turnagy advanced programmer, this lets me make the settings with my laptop.
|
RE: questions about redcat 1/8 scale
there is a program card you can get for the ezrun 80amp. same one that will work for the 150amp ESC. it will let you set the esc for running nimh or lipo very easy. also lets you set a bunch of nice ESC settings, punch control, drag brake, brake force, reverse power, motor timing and more.
