Volcano S30 fuel?

So I am getting a S30 for my birthday next week and today my neighbor gave me a gallon of 18%nitro fuel. Would that run good in the S30 or should I bump up to 20%? I would hate to see that fuel not being used

Use it, if its free. one of my buddies bought  a jug of nitro aircraft fuel for $5 and used it. I personally like the predator 20% pro race, the rtr+ is pretty good also. Although different engines like different fuels. Ive found that my traxxas 3.3 doesnt like blue thunder or traxxas fuel as much as other brands. Just experiment until you find a good fuel. but remember to re tune in between switching fuels

id try the odonells or sig stuff, but no one out by me sells it, im happy with the wildcat stuff, it performs good, and my engines have all lasted a ridiculously long time

IN recent years SIGs reputation took a hit, backorders galore, late shipments, etc. But SIG has been purchased by 3 avid RC enthusiasts and is really turning things around. Let your local hobby store know about the change and perhaps they will start stocking SIG fuel.

I'll look for that fuel at my lhs. What formula's have you tried? It seems there are 2 different ones on the website. Right now I'm near the end of a gallon ofO'Donnell 20%.

RE: Volcano S30 fuel?

There is SIG Champion which is 10/15 or 25% nitro and 20% oil in a 50/50 castor to synthetic blend.
Or there is the Intimidator which is 20 or 30% nitro and 11% full synthetic with a special additive to lower head temps.
Ihave used both but prefer the higher oil% blends to keep my engine lasting as long as Ican.

The O'Donnell fuel I'm using is the high performance which is only 8% synthetic, no castor. I have had good results with it. The only other fuel I've used is the traxxas 20% top fuel and it made my one-way bearing slip. I have a Volcano S30, do you think the SIG's would do the same thing?

Ihave never had any trouble with my one way bearing slipping.

Ihave about a gallon through the SH18 now and it now makes excellent power.
Break In was a little slow on my SIG Champion fuel but the results are going to be worth it, I cant afford to replace my engine after 2 gallons of fuel like a lot of guys do.
I am loving that little SH engine.

My lhs didn't have the SIG's brand. It does have 5-6 different fuels in stock. I did mention it, so who knows. I would try it it if available, I'm paying around $30 a gallon for my o'donnell fuel. I do do think fuel makes a difference, at least that I can tell.

Not to start an agrument here but SIG fuel has the fact that it is blended by volume not weight printed right on the bottle. I am suspicious of any fuel blender that is not willing to state that or sometimes even the percentages.
For backyard bashing Ilike to see a MINIMUM of 18 percent oil. Most people use the 18% rule as a maximum. Your engine will make a lot more power with lower oil, just not as long.

you need to be careful with high oil content on internal one way bearing engines, the sh engines have internal one ways on them for the pullstarts and the excess oil will make them slip.... Traxxas top fuel has a high oil content, along with a few others.... I wouldnt suggest any more than 18%. On engines such as the trx 3.3 you can use high oil content because the one was is external, the vx engines and most if not all os engines also use external one ways.

fuel

if you stay at 20% you can use dfferent percentage oils ,just might have to retune i use vp power sports fuel 14% and 9% oil with no problems
