bought a used traxxas nitro sport SE out of the "uncle henry's"

overpaid for it:eek:

had fun with it for a few months, then sold it for parts and bought a used rustler xl-5.

had over 100 models since then.

I had a a handful toys back in the day. I found the battery from my first, a Sears Lobo buggy (made by Nikko), just the other day. 900mah NiCD. I think out of everything I've had it's probably still my favorite. And it never broke, even when I ran over it with my bike.

My wife brought an old Tyco Lamborghini Countach back home with her when she visited her family but no radio. I had a red one when I was a kid. I took it apart to see if I could find a crystal but there's nothing removable. I assume they came in 2 frequencies, anyone know which frequency the black one used?

In 2009 I bought a tornado S30 from rufaster; I bought another one which was technically my first but had some issues with a seller on ebay and returned it.

Yeah, I had the Cox also, maybe the same model. Mine was a pearl white pinto and my brother had the AA fuel dragster. Worked good on the string then we tied one without, well you know.....KIDS
We both also has a Cox line control airplane blue yellow, don't remember the name. Had the tamiya grass hopper and lunchbox as early builds and since then a whole bunch more. On and off road, boats, helis and planes. Pretty good on the surface but better on the sim than in the air :) Airplanes look better hanging in one piece, beside on the sim the red button always gives me a new plane.

yes, white pinto, also ran without the tether and it ran a pretty distance down the block before it hit a car tire and some breakage happened.... I still have my control line planes, going to take them out one day. Had the grasshopper too, the hornet, some hand wound modified motors. Best hobby in the world. Also like trains, slot cars, etc....

mine was around '86,i worked all summer by cutting lawns and doing anything to make funds to buy the most awesomis rc that i have ever seen, it was the Nikko mascot 4wd!!! that thing was the shindizzle of the block. I could remenber kids tradding me batteries to have a turn..... i believe it took like 8 aa batteries and last about 10-15mins, if that.  The first 2-3mins were the best and after the battries were kind of dead, is when i would let them try it.  I was a mean kid i guess.  It ran for a long time until i got it wet, then it died and was never revived...

 R.I.P.  mascot 4wd.

gotta see if i could find some pics........long time ago

Kyosho Stadium Beetle bought in 1998, at least that was my first real R/C. Took me two days to build it... and I still have it.

I'm showing my age here but when I was a kid, I had a Cox Vega funny car. It wasn't really an RC car, but it was nitro powered. I also had their airplane. It was nitro powered, and had strings with handles on the end. You'd fire it up, and turn in circles with it. RC's have come a long way! LOL

A Tamiya Grashopper with Futaba Attack AM radio in the early 1980's. Still have it, but way back in the 80's the hard plastic body broke up and the car has a lexan body.

first hobby grade was around 27 years ago, the Tamiya Frog with Futaba attack radio. Used a lot of paper route money to buy that kit. I bought it at a hobby show where the prices were much less compared to the local hobby shop. I think I remember paying about $170 for the kit and about $120 for the radio. Battery was another $30.

My first car was a 1/10 Grasshopper back about 1990ish. Great little entry level car for the day. I hear Tamiya has worked them over and re-released them too.

You must have really wanted it. how much did something like that cost back then?

RE: Remember your first RC?

Unfortunately no pics left, but yes thats where it all started. A good freind of mine had been into RC's when he was younger and he convinced a couple of us to pick them up with him. I was lost when this big box of parts and a clear body showed up. I was literally dumb founded. If not my for my buddy the thing would still be in pieces in my attic. I ended up getting out of it for years and years but I'm back now

I want to say the cost was around 250-300 (maybe less) with the remote, ignitor, fuel, and everything to get it running.
