Slow Acceleration

Just got my car running. It takes off real slow at first. When I watch vids of others they take off lightning fast. I'm afraid to lean it out to much. What should I do. It does smoke alittle still. Is it to rich?

RE: Slow Acceleration

set low side a little leaner 1/8 turn at a time, make sure you run it a little between adjustments to get rid of the fuel loaded up in the engine

Yeah leaning it out a little will help with that...but do as he said remember to run it in between each 1/8th turn for about 30secs to a minute is normal for those small turns

I wish i could make mine slow down lol.... I think i have an air leak which makes it run abnormally lean.... it goes very very fast but runs close to 400 degrees lol

i think your temp gauge need calibration, if the engine ran at 400 you would be toast in about 4 tanks. LOL

can't run it very long.... it's actually a nice temp gauge with lifetime warranty... you can smell the motor burnin from like 20 ft. away

maybe you need to richen it up a little.

He told me he has it set so it should be extremely rich...thats why I am suspicious of an air leak somewhere.

RE: Slow Acceleration

spray some carb cleaner around the base of the carb, if the rpm changes or it shuts down, then there is a leak. Another thing i noticed yesterday, make sure that your high end needle valve is tight. I dont meant the screw i mean the shroud around it, you will see it has a nut like look to it to tighten it up. i was haveing a little problem with the idle and i think that was the problem, mine was loose enough that it could be loosend by finger.

I figured one thing out that helped. The glow plug wasn't seated all the way down and was spraying nitro everywhere, LOL.
