Pull starter
Hey im looking for a pull starter for my HiMoto 1/10 Eldorada .18 engine. And i was wondering if you knew any cheap sites to get one off of , or what company makes the same pull starters. I was looking on tower hobbies and i dont know what brand to look under, i have also looked at exportpro.biz, but i want something closer that will get here faster if possible.
Thanks |
RE: Pull starter
why dont you get a tiger drive? ...i got one from "the tower" and it costs less than the pull starter that they sell in redcat's site

RE: Pull starter
im just wanting to sell my car, and i just had a tiger drive and it broke on me, the one way bearing somehow stopped grabbing...and now it doesnt spin the shaft soo i dont want that to happen to the next owner. Gonna buy a revo once i sell it, and my old paintballing stuff.

RE: Pull starter
i see..... and the tiger drive hasn't yet arrived and you are telling me it broke [:o] I read alot of good stuff about it and that's why I got it...i'll just hope that everything goes well, I've only drove my car for 40 mins and that was a week ago... :(

RE: Pull starter
it did work fine. I posted a while ago in the 1/10 Redcat Racing forum what had happened apologizing to people for giving them false facts..i then said that this may have just happened to me, so hopefully it does not happen to you.

RE: Pull starter
the hpi rotostart is much better made, did it to mine and have had no problem with it, just everything else. tornado xp that is the volcano is great.
|
RE: Pull starter
all im looking for is a Pull Starter for a cheap price. I know of all the other starting mechanisms and i would just like to get a pull starter and sell this thing.
Thank you |
RE: Pull starter
well, if your one way bearing is good i am sure an hpi pullstart will work fine since the rotostart works. i dont know if it will be cheaper than the redcat one but i think so, the redcat one seems like alot of money.

RE: Pull starter
BTW i meant the hpi information for DiTi not you, i know what you wanted.

RE: Pull starter
Oh...well nevermind then

RE: Pull starter
hey ehroof,
i was debating between the two actually (rotostart/tigerdrive) and the only reason i chose the tiger is that I already have an electrical drill and I wouldn't ned to buy anything else besides the square... at this point, i can't go back so i'll just hope all will go well anyway, I figured my cluch spring was broken today. I repaired it (kind of) but i still need to buy a new one just in case... what is the best thing to do? go to the LHS and get a single spring or get the spair part from redcat? |
RE: Pull starter
I've got a tigergear you can see in my gallery, I have cranked and cranked on it due to improper tuning by me, and the thing still works great, it for sure last alot longer than the pull starter did. well we will see if it will last the life of the engine, if it does i am sold on it for only 20 dollars you cant go wrong.

RE: Pull starter
I hear that with some of the tiger drives you have to bend the metal holding the two gears closer to eachother to make sure that they are in contact. I think that's part of the reason why so many people strip the gears on them so quickly. I've been debating on whether or not to get one. As it is right now my buggy is starting up on the 4th or 5th pull from a cold start and then once it's been going, the first pull every time. I also like knowing that I'll never have to carry around a drill or a roto start wand. After my first pull starter broke I ended up buying an HPI pull starter and that thing has worked like a charm since. Maybe if that one breaks i'll convert. From what i've heard electric starts are great.

RE: Pull starter
Hi Diti, get a spare from redcat, you will eventually need the clutches but if you have a lhs, get a traxxas spring. i did have the patience to wait for my delivery so i went to the lhs and the traxxas spring fit and is still working. seeing all the posts about the redcat spring i think its not such a great item.

RE: Pull starter
If your vehicle is tuned right and you
prime it,it should be a one pull deal. My truck starts 1 or 2 pulls,so I'll never see a reason for anything other than a pull starter.Tune It. |
RE: Pull starter
thx ehroof
Is there an alternative hop-up clutch for the volcano? |
RE: Pull starter
you really dont need one, the spring is kinda the hop up, the stronger and tighter the spring is, the higher the rpm's until the clutch engages which gives you better take off.
|
RE: Pull starter
I fully respect your advices ehroof. I was just wondering: the 3 shoe clutches have three diferent springs that seem to be not-so-easy to break... is that true?
