Clutch Slice- Quick Question
Hey i was just wondering how to go about getting the clutch spring around the clutch slice..any easy ways?
|
RE: Clutch Slice- Quick Question
hook the spring together, put around clutches, then put clutches on flywheel, its kinda hard to get the spring around the shaft of the engine if you leave the clutches in not to mention you can mess the spring up by stretching it out.

RE: Clutch Slice- Quick Question
ok thanks, and judst outta curiosity how does the slice/ spring break? to prevent further mishap
|
RE: Clutch Slice- Quick Question
its not your fault, its a design flaw with the redcat springs, i hope you bought the traxxas 4146 or 4146x spring.
ps: its actually a clutch shoe not slice even though the manual says that, if you got to a hobby store and ask for a clutch slice with spring they would laught you out of the store. |
RE: Clutch Slice- Quick Question
"Clutch slice"
That STILL makes me giggle. |
RE: Clutch Slice- Quick Question
yeah i called it shoe then someone told me slice...i always thought it was shoe but my fingers wanted to type slice. Oh well thanks. Yeah i just put the "shoe" on and first run the hook on the spring broke. Where can i get JUST the spring?
|
RE: Clutch Slice- Quick Question
i dont know about the spring, but i would suggest getting the traxxas 4146x, it comes with shoes but i would use the old redcat shoes just put the traxxas spring around them. it will way outlast the redcat spring. i have had it in my volcano for 20 tanks.

RE: Clutch Slice- Quick Question
You should be able to find the Traxxas spring (or ANY better spring) at your LHS...just take it in and compare.
|
RE: Clutch Slice- Quick Question
my LHS is not very L any more. about a 30 min drive.
|
RE: Clutch Slice- Quick Question
same here... it sucks, I am out of nitro and probably I will receive it sooner in the mail than I will get the chance to drive down there...
|
RE: Clutch Slice- Quick Question
thats why there's tower hobbies but 30 min drive or wait 3-5 days for spring, i would have to turn the key.
|
RE: Clutch Slice- Quick Question
yeah my "LHS" just closed down. They had horrible service anyway. Never had ANY parts in, and it cost me alot of money for them to install 2 parts a while ago..which i can do now,but was new at the time.
|
RE: Clutch Slice- Quick Question
My LHS is a little over a half hour away too...but when I need stuff....I just.......GOOOOOOOOO!:D
|
RE: Clutch Slice- Quick Question
yeah they are great... no way they can run out of nitro :P
the only thing is that it takes 5-6 days for my orders to arrive... I hear they 've been around for a loooong time right? |
RE: Clutch Slice- Quick Question
Yeah but im assuming you have a car. I've still a year to go till i aquire a car. but when i do i probably wont mind...besides outrageous gas prices...$3/ gallon..!! whish nitro only cost that much.

RE: Clutch Slice- Quick Question
there is a place in the city, american hobby center, i want to check and see if they have a website, its a huge place, a little more than your local hobby srote, as far as tower, they have been around for many years.

RE: Clutch Slice- Quick Question
Hey DiTi, I live in S.E. Mass. and I don't have any LHS close to me. There used to be a HobbyTown in the Hanover Mall but no more. That was about 15 miles away but it was worth the drive. Now I have to order all my parts, including fuel and plugs online. It sucks but there is nothing I can do about it.

LOL in the new Volcano manual it's a clutch CHIP:) But, yeah, what ehroof said...use the traxxas clutch spring 4146 or 4146X...I had a clutch spring break on a Tornado BB this weekend[:@] |
