RE: help a NOOB

I'm not trying to be a dick or anything.....but shouldn't it say on the box... or atleast your manual on the spare parts list ?.... or if you want dude... look up buggy tires on th net... and find the sizing on them...here... i'll chek hold up.......................86*32mm thats your answer right there... now get that beast some new tires and get it on the dirt...

RE: help a NOOB

86*32mm ok is that rear or front, and what's the 86 and whats the 32. stand for
man i'm a total noob at this.i've only had my buggy a week and never touched one til this one.

Cas_NitroGT 06-14-2006 11:54 PM

RE: help a NOOB

Diameter: (86mm) Width: (32mm) of the tire.... both front and back tires are the same for the buggy that you have.... so when you look for tires. remember to ask them about it it remember to look for it on the net... because you don't wanna mess it up... then be pissed when you get home.

RE: help a NOOB

lol that the only info I got... I don't even own a tornado... I own a lightning... you just need to know what your lookin at... if you need any other help... ask me. and I'll try and fnd out.

RE: help a NOOB

You'll also need the right Hex size of the hub nut.
I believe ours are 12mm.
I also think that the way they sell tires is in inches. So also keep an eye out for 2.2 inch rims.
That's all a little cloudy for me so if any one else could verify that it'd be appreciated.

RE: help a NOOB

my bad... lol I don't even own a tornado... lol sorry for the mistake...

RE: help a NOOB

Oh no problem you're right too. Although our rear tires are wider than the front ones.
And just some advice to tad, you're best bet may be to take the stock wheels and tires into your local shop and see what will work and what won't. then get the specs. off the packaging and then use those to look up some on the internet.

RE: help a NOOB

What I would do, personally, is get a set of HPI Super Nitro 2.2" sedan wheels, and a set of 2.2" 1/10 buggy tires (REAR tires)

check out this combo, should work great for general bashing:

wheels:

RE: help a NOOB

Do you happen to have the specs of the buggy tires on hand or could you find them out for us? Things like hex diameter and width for the front and rear. Thanks man.

tat2d2dope 06-15-2006 09:55 AM

RE: help a NOOB

do they offer front wheels like those for the front that will work on the tornado

Popper252 06-15-2006 09:55 AM

RE: help a NOOB

Those tire sizes have to be wrong. The rear tires are def. wider.

They must have been on crack or something when they posted that. Nothing about those tires are 86mm long. Just maybe the truck wheels with the tires mounted on them....

Team Knowitall 06-15-2006 10:10 AM

RE: help a NOOB

the hex is 12mm.

Cas_NitroGT 06-15-2006 10:12 AM

RE: help a NOOB

well I don't know about the tires... I'm a lightning VX guy... but atleast I tried. lol but it says on the redcatracing site and detail's about the volcano xp that both tires are 86*32

Team Knowitall 06-15-2006 10:19 AM

RE: help a NOOB

fronts are 32mm wide and the rears are 40mm wide.

that won't matter if you get the PL Bowtie 1/10 buggy tires and the HPI Super Nitro wheels though:P

tat2d2dope 06-15-2006 10:30 AM

RE: help a NOOB

so i can use the above listed wheels and tires on front and back?
will the front have enough clearence?

Cas_NitroGT 06-15-2006 10:33 AM

RE: help a NOOB

yea both front and rear tires are the same size pretty much... just depends if your gettin other rims in rims premounted with the tires... but I think Erics right on the diameters of the tires

Team Knowitall 06-15-2006 11:01 AM

RE: help a NOOB

Diameters are the same...the widths are different.

tat...it depends on how much clearance you want. if you wanted MORE ground clearance ya shoulda bought a Volcano:P but it should be fine on a Tornado

tat2d2dope 06-15-2006 11:06 AM

RE: help a NOOB

what i meant by clearence is on Aarms and stuff.
but i think it would look kool with all 4 wheels and tires the same size.

sorry for being a noob but, if you had any questions about tattoos i'm the man to ask LOL

Clearance should be fine...a friend of mine (years ago) was running the same wheels on his tamiya electric 4wd buggy which has similar sized tires and had no clearance issues.
the backspacing on the Super Nitro wheels is really fairly shallow, and the buggy doens't have enough steering throw (and the arms are narrow enough) that it won't be an issue.

Also...does it hurt? :P

tat2d2dope 06-15-2006 11:17 AM

RE: help a NOOB

some places hurt, most don't my rib cage and elbows hurt like hell LOL.
