Diff oil suggestions?
 

What weight oil/grease do racers suggest for the three different diffs on a awd rc car, i've heard of 7000 weight all around for beginners and combination of different weights for advanced racers.

what vehicle are you refering to?? The 1/10 scales only have 2 diffs in them...but, I would be interested in this myself, as I've seen a bunch of different suggestions on the topic...also, i think a lot of it hyas to do with what surface you're running on.

actually referring as the third diff to the center tranny:D, the grease/oil weight is track dependant but also is driver style dependant, so i was looking for suggestion from the racers on this forum

General bashing, I usually run 7,000wt in the front diff, 10,000wt in the center diff, and 3000wt in the rear

whatever my buggy came with, is what i'm going to try running with until i get this thing tuned right.

Eric can you explain the reason for the different weighted oil for the respective parts??

The higher the #"weight" of oil the more equal the power transfer is to each driveshaft or tire. IE: If you spin the input of the rear differential and hold 1 tire the other tire will spin and the one your holding will try alittle. With 10000wt oil the one you're holding will try to spin even more. Filled with JB Weld the only way any tire will spin is if you let go. Think 50000wt as Posi Trac.

Would my LHS have this 50000 wt oil? If not where might you get this?

Oh.. I'm not sure. I just picked the # outta the air. try Tower Hobbies. they're probably cheaper anyway. But the thicker or higher# weight oil the more equal the power transfer is. You may not even notice the difference, and on the 1/10 buggies and trucks there is no center diff. the power is applied equally to the front and rear wheels.

The Higher the # weight the thicker the viscosity oil. Molassass would be 50000 wt, mineral oil would be 10wt.
