Some pix...

Hey guys. I just wanted to post some pix of some basic mods I made to my body and shocks. I didn't realize the truck was so dirty until AFTER I saw the macro pix. I'll clean it better later...after I rip it up some!!
Anyway, for the body, I used my Dremel and cut out a hole in the bed to access the glow plug and pull start. I also bored a hole in the upper windshield and routed a zip tie to my fuel tank lid. I just fill it through the front wheel well now. No need to remove the lid, aside from maintenance anymore. I can even access the LSN and idle screw, however not the HSN. Oh well, you can't have your cake and eat it too... I'm sure I can bore another hole in there if I feel up to it. I'm more concerned with the low end, being a basher, not a racer.
As for the shocks, most/many are either adjustable or come with clips/clamps to increase spring tension. Mine didn't, so I picked up these cable clamps at Home Depot for $1.25. I only needed 2 on the rear end, as the front shocks perform beautifully. They just snap right on and hold tightly. I may trim the excess tabs off with scissors, but they're not bothering me.
I also threw in a pic of my first crash damage. Nothing major, just a cracked body and bent shock. I bent the shock back and it works fine. Just a flesh wound. It could have been much worse. I need to watch out for those damned swingsets that jump out in front of my truck! I gotta say though, these babys can take a good beating. She's flipped and rolled enough times, that's for sure! Hahaha:D

Oh, remember my posts about the fuel delivery problem, and that I had to modify my defective tank and cut the elbow off and reattach the fitting vertically?
Well here's a pic of that mod, along with another pic of my super-cool fuel filter with attached primer bulb. It was $11 at my LHS and well worth it. It's cleanable, functional and I think it looks pretty cool.

Also, next time I post pix my truck should have these sweet upgrades. I just have to find a way to convince my wife that I REALLY need this stuff... LOL

The primer works great. You just squeeze the bulb 3 times or so, until you see it flow through the line into the carb, and she fires right up, first pull! I forget the brand name. I really love the fact that it's a dual purpose fuel filter.

Looks great.. Just a question, why would you make your shocks on one side 2 different heights. That doesn't make sense to me. One would be working harder than the other.

I only needed to increase the spring tension just enough to keep the rear end from sagging. It is working great. She's handling the jumps and bumps like a champ. They're really not working too much harder than the ones in front of them. The spring is just compressed a little more than 1/4 in. If I compressed all 4 rear springs, the ride would be just a little too stiff. I suppose I could cut 2 clips in half and mount them on all 4, but I don't feel the need to seeing it's handling mint.
Anyone else have any say in the matter? Uncle, Popper, Blue, Kemo, Eric, Jake??? I don't want to damage anything or do anything wrong...

By the way, today is my 33rd b-day and about an hour ago my buddy Tom came over and ordered my Masher 2000s and HPI SS Monster wheels for me, with glue of course. I am totally psyched. Very unexpected too. They'll be here Friday!!! I'm ordering my radio Friday too. I'm going with the Futaba 2PH. Thanks to all for your valuable opinions. I had to choose what would be best for my budget and style of driving. The 2PH and 2PL were among the most popular recommendations, but I didn't feel the need to spend an extra $26 for a digital display and the ability to program models...

Hey when if you get a chance can you let me know where you got that primer from? I would like one of those too.

Matt, what exactly were you referring to in this statement?

The only thing I can think of is the fuel filter/primer. If so, I actually got it from my local hobby shop (LHS). I will try to get down there and find out the brand and post it. Fahaka wants to know as well.
