trouble starting himoto eldorada
ok so basicly, i just got this himoto eldroarada for christmas, it was running perfectly then the spur gear lost some teeth so i took it out got a new one slapped in a new one. then when i was trying to start it, it starts then when the fuel line runs out of fuel it dies and i cant drive it cause it doesnt suck up any fuel from the tank.
please any help will be gratful BIGBUDHA |
RE: trouble starting himoto eldorada
make sure the tank lid is closed all the way, check to see if there is anything stuck in the feeder line or tank nipple.

RE: trouble starting himoto eldorada
we checked both and no luck but thanks for responding

RE: trouble starting himoto eldorada
did it run good before the spur gear was stripped? did you take the engine out when you changed the spur? do you have the hoses the right way? (dont take as an insult) does the tank hold pressure, blow in one hose while pinching the other one. will it push fuel out if you pull the hose off the muffler and blow into it?
|
RE: trouble starting himoto eldorada
yes before spur gear stripped running great. yes we did take engine out and put it back in properly the hoses are in right and the tank holds pressure
|
RE: trouble starting himoto eldorada
when you blow in the pressure hose, does it push fuel out the fuel line easily?
|
RE: trouble starting himoto eldorada
when connected to carb it takes a lot of force for the fuel to get in the line, once fuel in the engine it will start and run for 2 or 3 seconds and then no more fuel in line

RE: trouble starting himoto eldorada
Did it sit for awhile with fuel in it maybe it has old fuel in it which can suck trying to get it to burn is the glow plug burnt out you can check by pulling it out and connecting it to warmer it should glow bright orange also while plug is out turn car over and drain out all fuel from engine itself hope this helps
Edit sorry you posted right before i did |
RE: trouble starting himoto eldorada
sounds like the bottom nipple is clogged or the carb intake is clogged.
|
RE: trouble starting himoto eldorada
i changed nipple but did not check carb yet

RE: trouble starting himoto eldorada
try to open the HSN all the way and see if fuel is coming up the fuel line then?
|
RE: trouble starting himoto eldorada
i openden it and no fuel going threw [&o]
|
RE: trouble starting himoto eldorada
Did you try to cover the opening on the pipe and then turn it over you know pull the starter and see if you get fuel coming up the line to the carb?
|
RE: trouble starting himoto eldorada
yeah we tried that and it didnt work....
|
RE: trouble starting himoto eldorada
take off the fuel line and check them for holes i had my spur gear put a hole in one of mine and it wouldnt suck gas from the fuel tank either because of the hole also check the one on the exhaust you would be better off to replace both of them with new ones and then you could eliminate the fuel line as one of the problems

RE: trouble starting himoto eldorada
also take off the line that runs to the carb take the tip off that connects to the gas tank but leave the other end connected to the carburetor and blow through the hose listen real close you might have an air leak check the base of the carburetor, the backplate, where the exhaust connects to the motor, and if all these are sealed and not leaking then unscrew the hsn all the way out and check the o ring if it has any cracks or anything replace it

RE: trouble starting himoto eldorada
yeah sounds definately like an air leak somewhere or one of the inlet nipples is clogged. I recently got a new carby for another engine and noticed that the factory and plugged the inlet nipple with cardboard. Luckily I noticed this before plugging in the lines. Took a bit of fidling though to get it out of such a tiny opening.
